"During the reign of Henry VI he was three times appointed one of the governors of Lincoln's Inn. In 1441 he was made a King's sergeant at law, and in the following year Lord Chief Justice of the King's bench. As a judge Fortescue was recommended for his wisdom, gravity and uprightness; and he is said to have been favoured by the King. He held his office during the remainder of the reign of Henry VI, to whom he was loyal; as a result, he was attainted of treason in the first parliament of Edward IV. When Henry subsequently fled into Scotland, he is supposed to have appointed Fortescue, who appears to have accompanied him in his flight, Lord Chancellor of England. In 1463 Fortescue accompanied Queen Margaret and her court in their exile on the Continent, and returned with them afterwards to England. During their wanderings abroad the chancellor wrote for the instruction of the young Prince Edward his celebrated work 'De laudibus legum Angliae'. On the defeat of the Lancastrian party he made his submission to Edward IV, from whom he received a general pardon dated Westminser, 13 Oct 1471. The exact date of his death is not known. Fortescue's masterly vindication of the laws of England, though received with great favour by experts, did not appear in print until the reign of King Henry VIII, when it was published, but without a date." He was a Norman knight who settled in Herefordshire and became a landowner in England when he was granted lands by King Edward the Confessor prior to the Conquest. He built Richard's Castle in about 1048-1050 (near Ludlow) in county Hereford, on the Welsh border and administered this part of the border region. He held various manors in Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire at the time of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), according to the Domesday book. Richard's surname is said to be derived from the nickname "Le Scrob", or "the crab", given to him by jealous Saxons of Edward the Confessor's court. He had sons: Osborn (or Osbern or Osbert) Fitz-Richard (or Fitz Scrop or Fitz Scrob or Le Scrope) - born in Richard's Castle - and William Fitz Richard. Find A Grave memorial 155419689 lists his children with Ruth and reports: "Recent consensus is that Matthew was one of the children brought to Salem between 1643 and 1646 during the 1st Parliamentarian/Royalist Civil War from Middlesex County (now East Metropolitan London)to live with and work for families of the area.
He married Ruth Andrus, daughter of William Andrus of Lynn and stepdaughter of John Tarbox of Lynn, in September of 1649 and moved to Topsfield probably the following spring. They had 11 children that survived to adulthood. Records of Topsfield previous to June 1657 were lost to a fire at the town clerk's residence so no baptismal records of earliest children survive previous to this date."

[52179] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 2 December 2019": "Lamoine - Brenda Workman Seavey, beloved wife of Keith Seavey, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a short battle with cancer on Nov. 28, 2019. Brenda was born on Jan. 31, 1949, to Warren and Velma (Leighton) Workman. She attended Pemetic schools in Southwest Harbor. Before retiring, she worked at the Jackson Lab, where she met her soul mate. Later on in life, she worked at the Southwest Harbor SPCA with her best friend, Bessie Gray. Brenda is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 32 years, Keith; her mother, Velma; her daughter Michelle Campbell and husband, Chad; four grandchildren, Sarah, Tracey and husband, Kenny, Matthew Havey and partner Allison, Kilee and Evan Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Alexander and Ella Tracey; nephews Kris Harper and Jeffery Lane; nieces Brianne Seavey and Stacey Dannenberg; niece by choice Marie Blanchard; brother-in-law Randy Seavey and wife Valerie; sister by choice Sandy McGarry; and three great-nephews. She was predeceased by her son Matthew Michael, father, Warren, sister Barbara Workman and her nieces Lisa Harper and Kelley Seavey. Brenda loved her daughter and grandchildren as well as all her close friends. She enjoyed going out to early morning breakfasts at Marthas Diner and became good friends with Peter and Martha Kataftos, Thelma Beal, Jan Stanley, Paul OHalloran, Butch Carter, Arthur Bickford and Michael Walker. She and Keith were gourmet cooks who collected and tested many, many recipes; you never left hungry after visiting their home. She also enjoyed clothes, especially her alpaca clothing from her good friends Corry and Robin Pratt. In 2016, Brenda and Keith moved to Lamoine to be closer to her daughter, where they finally felt like they were at home. Her life with Keith was complete! Meeting many new friends and neighbors who quickly became family, especially Gary and Linda Eaton. The love that they have shown knows no bounds. Linda Bennett, Bev Murphy, Bonnie and John Alvarez, Corry and Robin Pratt, you were always there when she needed you. Thank you, Randy and Valerie Seavey, Brenda and Tracey Parsons-Landry, Donna Hatch and Bill Null, for being here in her final moments and for the love and stories shared."
