[42085] Find A Grave Memorial 120661752 offers Boyd's obituary: "Boyd Leymaster, 83, of Hastings, formerly of Phillips/Aurora, died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. . . . Mr. Boyd Leymaster was born May 24, 1930, on a farm near Phillips to Roy and Hattie (McCarty) Leymaster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Victor Kennel of Gilmer, Texas, and Lois and Charles Hafer of Hastings; a son, Gregory Leymaster of Ellijay, Ga.; and a sister, Betty Smith of California. Those also left to cherish his memory are eight grandchildren, Julie Clark of Stromsburg, Phillip Leymaster, Jeremy Leymaster of Florida, Susan Hafer of Omaha, Jason (Amy) Hafer of Hastings, Lance (Dee) Kennel, Dawn (Aaron) Miller and Pierre Kennel; 11 great-grandchildren, Macy, Hailey, Nicholas, Hannah, Alex, Ben, Katherine, Joshua, Anna, Kristen and Aaron; and a great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1949. On Oct. 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Juett at Grand Island. They resided in Grand Island and then on a farm near Phillips. After retiring from farming, they moved to Aurora, where Boyd worked for Aurora Public Schools for 10 years. Mary Lou passed away on Sept. 23, 2004. Boyd was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and helped with the children's ministry making toys for them. He was a member of the local ham radio club. Boyd enjoyed woodworking. He built spinning wheels that he and Mary Lou used to give demonstrations to elementary school children and at the Stuhr Museum. Boyd also enjoyed music, playing the guitar and pitching horseshoes. He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Tracy Cunningham; and two brothers, Dean and Dale Leymaster."
