[1805] "The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle" (1961 translation), p. 13: "571. In this year Cuthwulf [Cutha] fought against the Britons at Biedcanford, and captured four towns, Limbury, Aylesbury, Bengsington, and Eynsham; and in the same year he died." But another MS of the Chronicle has him living in 584. "The Earliest English Kings," D. P. Kirby (London, England: Routledge, 1992), figure 3, suggests that Cutha and Cuthwine may be the same person.
[12052] Grover is son of David Bowen and Wilda (or Milda) Sidle. He and Rita had Dorothy (m. Monte Lampros) and Nadine.

[48393] Find A Grave memorial 7232926 offers: "US Congressman, Inventor. Born in Warren, Massachusetts, he graduated from Harvard University in 1781, was a teacher and a tutor in Harvard University, until 1787. In 1788, he began to work with the theories of steam engines and built the tubular boiler, a new kind of steam boiler. He then made efforts to improve the function of the steam cylinder placed it in a horizontal position so the engine could sustain much higher pressure and invented the high-pressure steam engine. His new engine was more convenient, portable, also much lighter and safer, which could be used in new fields, such as steamboat and locomotive. Read made several models of steamcar and steamboat in 1790, invented the chain-wheel to using paddle wheels to propel the steamboat and set up a shipbuilding factory in 1796. He also developed a new machine, which could be cutting and heading nails at one operation, which was patented on January 8, 1798 and developed a style of rotary steam engine in 1817. In 1800, he was elected as a Federalist to the Sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Samuel Sewall, was reelected to the Seventh Congress and served until 1803. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was judge of the court of common pleas of Essex County in 1803, moved to Belfast, Maine, in 1807 and was judge of the county court of Hancock County in 1807. He was instrumental in establishing Belfast Academy and served as trustee until his death at age 89 in Belfast, Maine. - Bio by: John 'J-Cat' Griffith"

[2218] Adelaide is probably daughter of Ulric Manfred II, Count of Susa {per "Ancestral Roots of Sixty New England Colonists," Frederick L. Weis, Lancaster, Mass.. 1950, p.60; her father is Ulric, Margrave of Susa, per "Ancestral Roots of Magna Charta Barons," Carr P. Collins, Jr., Dallas, 1959}. She was heiress of Turin. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands offers: "ADELAIDA di Susa, Marchesa di Susa, widow firstly of HERMANN IV Duke of Swabia and secondly of ENRICO Marchese di Monferrato, daughter of UDALRICO MANFREDO Marchese di Susa & his wife Berta degli Obertenghi (Turin 1020-Canischio in Canavese 27 Dec 1091, bur Turin, cathedral of San Giovanni). The Annalista Saxo names 'Adelheidis que soror erat comitis qui agnominatus est de Monte Bardonis in Italia et Immule seu Irmingardis' as wife of 'Ottonis marchionis de Italia'. Rivaz, in his compiled index of Burgundian charters. notes a charter dated 1043 under which 'Henri marquis de Monferrat et Adelaide de Susa son épouse' donated the church of Santa Agata, Susa to the monastery of Saint-Antonin. She was regent for her son in 1060 after the death of her husband, playing a significant role in support of Heinrich IV King of Germany, her son-in-law, in his disputes with the papacy. Adelaida mediated with Pope Gregory VII when King Heinrich submitted to him at Canossa in 1077, and received in return the town of Bugey for the house of Savoy. The necrology of Schaffhausen records the death 'XIV Kal Jan' of 'Adelheida Taurinensis comitissa'."
