This line is from the unverified Price Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2020 which states John arrived in America in 1857 and that year married Mary Bubeck who was b. in May, 1833 in PA - this Tree also states John r. in North Manheim, Schuylkill Co., PA in 1880 and in Ward 33, Philadelphia, PA in 1900 and lists the children shown here. This tree also states without documentation that John is son of Emmanuelle Bubeck and wife Catherine.
"The Call [Schuylkill Haven, PA], 5 February 1898," p. 1: "The funeral of the late John E. Bubeck took place from his late resilience in Spring Garden, on Saturday afternoon and was largely attended. Services were held in Jerusalem church. Interment was made in Union cemctery. Rev. Edwin Smoll officiated. The pall bearers were: Charles Leib, Henry Raudenbush, William Loy, Moses Evely, Henry Auman and Moses Deibler, members of Post No. 26 G. A. R."
"Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; genealogy--family history--biography; containing historical sketches of old families and of representative and prominent citizens, past and present (Volume 1), J. H. Beers & Co., pp. 560- 561: "John E. Bubeck, for many years a well known resident of Schuylkill Haven, and an honored veteran of the great Civil war in his adopted country, was bom at Esslingen, Wurtemberg, Germany, and came to America and the United States in boyhood. He landed at the port of New York and from there made his way to Philadelphia. With German thrift he accepted the first job of honest work that came his way, and followed butchering for a short time before coming on to Schuylkill Haven. Here, while the Schuylkill Haven docks were being built, he worked in the stone quarry. On March 31, 1864, he enlisted for service in the Civil war, entering Company B, 48th Pennsylvania Infantry, commanded by Capt. Thomas B. Williams [one of the most combat-active Union regiments], and saw very hard service before his honorable discharge, June 26, 1865, at the close of the war. He participated in the following battles: Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, siege of Petersburg and the mine explosion, Poplar Spring's Church, and Hatcher's Run, at the last named, in Febraary, 1865, being captured by the enemy. He was incarcerated for three months in the Salisbury prison and afterwards [wounded by bullet which entered shoulder and traveled toward hip] had to be cared for in a hospital at Baltimore. After his military service had been so faithfully performed Mr. Bubeck returned to Schuylkill Haven and for a time followed butchering, and then was employed on the canal at Landing No. 1, under John B. Striker, where he continued for four years. Mr. Bubeck then accepted a position as shipper for the Reading Railway Company, and continued in that relation until the completion of the canal, after which he was employed in the storage yards until he retired from active service, a few years before his death. He was an honest, upright, industrious man, one who commanded respect from employers and associates. In his religious belief he was of the Lutheran faith. He is buried in the Union cemetery at Schuylkill Haven. In politics he was a Democrat, and fraternally was a member of the Knights of the Mystic Chain; he belonged also to Jere Helms Post, No. 26, G. A. R., at Schuylkill Haven. John E. Bubeck was united in marriage with Mary Eiler, a daughter of John Eiler, and the following children were born to them: John E., of Cressona, Pa.; Minnie, wife of John McCanna; William; Frank; George; Charles H.; Anna, wife of Daniel Shappell; Marietta, deceased; Clayton W.; and four who died in infancy."
Also see http://www.thepiedmontbrass.com/reminiscences.html. His pension certificate as an invalid, # 747792, was issued 10 April 1891 and his widow's certificate # 462879, was issued 28 February 1898. His draft registration in North Manheim Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA in June, 1863 states he is a butcher b. in Germany."

[3180] NOTE: This ancestral line is duplicated in this database - see Turstain de Goz. From http://freespace.virgin.net/c.crane/Ancient/Ancient.htm: Thurston le Goz was born about 989 in Normandy, France. He married Judith de Montanolier about 1014. "The third son of Gerlotte was Ansfrid the Dane, the first Vicomte of the Hiemois, and father of Ansfrid the second, surnamed Goz, above mentioned, whose son Turstain (Thurstan, or Toustain) Goz was the great favourite of Robert Duke of Normandy, the father of the Conqueror, and accompanied him to the Holy Land, and was intrusted to bring back the relics the Duke had obtained from the Patriarch of Jerusalem to present to the Abbey of Cerisi, which he had founded. Revolting against the young Duke William in 1041, Turstain was exiled, and his lands confiscated and given by the Duke to his mother, Herleve, wife of Herluin de Conteville. Richard Goz, Vicomte d'Avranches, or more properly of the Avranchin, was one of the sons of the aforesaid Turstain, by his wife Judith de Montanolier, and appears not only to have avoided being implicated in the rebellion of his father, but obtained his pardon and restoration to the Vicomté of the Hiemois" Cf.
