Haslam, died Thursday Jan. 8, 1998 at an Ellsworth health-care facility. She was born in Franklin May 28, 1904, the daughter of Edwin F. and Harriet L. (Lawrie) Bartlett. Mildred was educated in Eastbrook schools and was a 1923 graduate of Coburn Classical Institute in Waterville. She also attended the Castine Normal School and the University of Maine at Orono. She taught in school districts in Beechland, Otis, Mariaville, Great Pond, Amherst, Waltham, and Eastbrook, retiring in 1971. Mildred was a member of the Eastbrook Baptist Church since 1924 and was the oldest member. She was also a member of Greenwood Grange No. 363 Eastbrook, Green Mountain, Pomona State and National granges, the Hancock County Retired Teacher's Association, the Maine Teacher's Association, Eastern Star No. 97; past master of the White Shrine No. 4, the Christmas Club, Historical Society, Garden Club, the Missionary Society of Eastbrook, and the Help-Some-How Club in Waltham. She is survived by four sons, Thurston E. and his wife, JoAnn of Ellsworth, Dwight M. and his wife, Estelle of Portland, Donald A. and his wife, Marilyn of Trenton, and Wayne H. and his wife, Sarah of Eastbrook; one daughter, Donna H. Barrows and her husband, John of Portland; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-stepgranddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins." Mildred is daughter of Edwin Forrest Bartlett (b in 1867) & Harriett L. Lawrie (b. in 1866). She and Harold had Thurston "Dusty" Haslam (1927-2014), Dwight M Haslam (b. in 1929), Donna Harriett Haslem (1932-2002) & Donald Haslam (1946-2013).

Grindle (1867-1958), buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor, Hancock Co., ME. He was a soldier in the Civil War and became a shipwright; 1867-1870 he was Master and part-owner of the "Hattie Annah". His son, George Wallace Grindle, was lost at sea in 1927.

This Friend had son, John, b. Washington, Conn. formerly part of Woodbury, 1737; He m. 1773, Thankful Slade (sister of Judge Slade, f. of Gov. Johnathan, (probably s. of Friend, of Norwich, above) r. from Woodbury (now Washington), Conn., to Wyoming, Pa., with w.Abigail, sons Johnathan, Thomas, Philip, Bartholomew, and two daughters, Abigail and another. The four sons named were in Wilkes-Barre, PA as settlers and original proprietors in 1770. Jesse (relationship unknown) was there in 1771. Johnathan, Jr., Philip, Bartholomew, and the two sons-in-law, were killed in the Wyoming massacre, July 3, 1778. The father and mother, with the grandchildren, were spared, and allowed to select a wagon and oxen, with which they returned to Conn. Some of the grandchildren went back to their home in Pa. The children of Johnathan, Jr. were John (Greenfield, Saratoga Co. N.Y. 1795) , Jerusha (in 1795 w. of Christopher Hyde, of Clinton, Duchess Co., N.Y.) , Sarah, Joseph (at Greenfield, N.Y. 1795) , Benjamin (twin with Joseph). The children of Phillip ( and w. Abigail, who m. 2nd, Ishmael Bennet) were Lydia, Huldah (m. Comfort Carey) , Philip ( m. Aug. 1804, Amelia, d. of Capt. Robert Durkee, who was slain in the massacre),( who was at Wilkesbarre in 1795), Luther.
In 1788, Philip, Jr. chose Thomas Weeks as guardian. Bartholomew had s. Thomas. There was another Johnathan (perhaps a nephew of Johnathan, senior), of Springfield, Pa., who devised lands to his three daughters, Lydia, Abigail, and Elizabeth ( w. of Nathan Waller.) Lydia (perhaps d. of Phillip) m. Silas Benedict, and d. 1796. Abigail m. Douglas Davidson, and was a widow in 1796. Thomas and w. Elizabeth were l. at Wilkes-Barre in 1796. There was a Daniel Weeks at Wyoming (PA) in 1797 and later.
Benjamin, s. of Johnathan, Jr. (above) was seven years old at the time of the massacre. He learned the trade of tanner and currier in Conn.; l. at Danbury; m. Ruth Smith; r. to Western New York in 1796; finally settled at Penfield, Monroe Co. He had John R.,Benjamin B., George W., Ard D. (Penfield 1883), David, Jane, Huldah. Benjamin B. had Orlo J.
