[52342] See the unverified file L1HR-JDT in familysearch.org for James' ancestry. Find A Grave memorial 68566404 offers: "The fourth and most distinguished son of Alexander Campbell, of Cherryfield, was James, who settled in Harrington, and resided there until his death. He was first appointed by his father when the latter was major general, one of his aids, and by repeated promotions became brigadier general of the second brigade. Upon the death of his father in 1808, the vacancy on the bench of the Court of Common Pleas was filled by the son; a position which he held until 1811, when Governor Gerry commissioned him as one of the Judges for the third eastern circuit. This office he occupied until the reorganization of the courts in 1822. From 1813 until the separation he was a member of the Senate, the constitution of the parent commonwealth allowing what that of Maine pronouced incompatible, viz., that a judge could have a seat in the legislature. Judge Campbell died in 1826. He was a man of unblemished character and accredited piety. He was also popular, for when he, William King and William D. Williamson were candidtes for the senate on the same ticket, and from the same district, he uniformly received the greater number of votes. He was, however, rather good than great or active, for he never charged a jury when a judge, nor was chairman of a committee when in the General Court. In stature he was under the usual height; plethoric; a free partaker and lover of his meals; in complexion, dark; in purpose set, and of affronts received or supposed, not forgetful but forgiving." - Written by the late Hon. William D. Williamson and published in the Bangor Historical Magazine, Volume I, Number IV, October 1885"
[27371] "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 246, suggests he is son of Robert de Umfravill who was said to have been granted Redesdale, Northumberland, by William the Conqueror, according to his descendants . . . but the deed was an early forgery. reports "Umfraville, the name of an English baronial family, derived from Amfreville in Normandy. Members of this family obtained lands in Northumberland, including Redesdale and Prudhoe, from the Norman kings, and a later member, Gilbert de Umfraville (died 1245), married Matilda, daughter of Malcolm, earl of Angus, and obtained this Scottish earldom."

Born April 26, 1909 in Shelby to Clifford and Tona (Schreck) Laser she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1927 graduate of Shelby High School, she attended Miami University for one year taking Home Economics. She took a year off from school and received her real estate and insurance licenses, selling houses for her father. In 1932 she graduated from Ohio Wesleyan with a degree in math and the following year she married Winfield S. Hancock, who preceded her in death in 1988. After her husband retired in 1973, they enjoyed wintering in Florida and summering on Lake Erie near Huron. They enjoyed fishing and would spend two weeks each summer in Canada. Helen also enjoyed quilting, knitting, needlepoint and reading. She especially enjoyed playing bridge with 'the girls'. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, The Women's Club, social member of the Shelby Country Club, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Survivors include her two sons, Scott (Donna) Hancock of Shelby and John Hancock of Shelby; one granddaughter, Ann Clinger of Upper Sandusky; and her great grandson, Jayson Clinger. In addition to her parents; and husband; she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Hancock. Private graveside services were held Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Russel Yoak officiating."
