The 1880 census lists Grant, age 16, in the family of his father, Joshua (age 55, b. in PA), and Grant's siblings (Carolina, Joshua and Leander) on the farm at Hickory Point, Macon Co., IL. "The Decatur Daily Review, 6 November 1936," p. 33: "Funeral services for Grant Disney, 72, who died Wednesday in his home at 1421 North Fiftieth place, Milwaukee, Wis., will be conducted at 1:30 p. m. Saturday in the Moran &Sons' funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs cemetery. He was born near Forsyth May 1, 1864 and farmed near Decatur until 25 years ago when he moved to Sturgis, Wis. He was married in Decatur April 14, 1889 to Miss Agnes Weikel. He moved to Milwaukee a short time ago and his death followed a four months' illness. Besides his wife he leaves the following children: Mrs. Verna Rotz, Hutchinson, Kan.; Mrs. Hazel Farmer, Beloit, Wis.; Mrs. Zeila Walters, Sturgis, Mich.; Guy Disney and Mrs. Erma Vollmer, both of Chicago; Mrs. Gladys Bessart, Wausau, Wis.; Mrs. Lolla Knaebe and Kenneth Disney, both of Milwaukee. He was a member of the Church af God and of Easterly camp (Decatur) of the Modern Woodman."

Joseph was a landowner in 1652, and he and his wife were members of the church in 1687." This memorial lists his children with Susannah: Joseph French (1654-1683), Elizabeth French (1655-1655), Simon French (1657-1732), Ann French Mudgett (1659-1712) Edward French (1663-1663), Edward French (1667-1737) & John French (1670-1684).

Her obituary: "Lincoln - Lois Velma McCormick, 85, passed away at home surrounded by family on May 29, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on June 18th, 1935, to Graydon and Zeta Grant in Kilburn, New Brunswick, Canada. Lois was raised in Canada along with her sister Ruth and brother Robert (Sherry). She remembered many happy times, especially how her parents made everything special without having a lot of money- from picnics in the summer to wonderful Christmases and birthdays. She had a best friend Ruthie Cox who she spent most of her time with. She loved to read from an early age and had lots of books. During her school years she enjoyed learning history, writing (winning a contest in the 8th grade), playing ping pong in the school basement, participating in high school plays, and singing in the school chorus. She also enjoyed playing softball in the summer and sledding in the winter. She attended the Baptist church with her family. Lois graduated as salutatorian of her high school class in 1954. Following graduation, Lois spent the next three years in nurses training in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She started her career in pediatric nursing which she enjoyed very much. It was shortly after this time that she met her first husband, Richard Brown. They married and had two sons, Richard and Robert. They lived in California where she worked in the operating room as an RN. A few years later, they divorced, and Lois would return to Canada. In 1973, she met Norman McCormick from Lincoln, Maine, who would become her second husband in 1974, making her stepmother to Brian and Mitchell McCormick. In 1977, her daughter Beth was born. She continued her career with nursing, working first in the local hospital and then in private practice. As the years went on, Lois continued many hobbies and activities such as reading, doing crossword puzzles, attending the First Congregational Church of Lincoln (where she was baptized and also became a member), going on family picnics, attending dances with Norman, traveling to the Maine Coast, accompanying Norman on many car rides locally, and spending time with family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She especially enjoyed helping to take care of her grandson, Riley, from a young age, developing an incredibly strong bond. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her brother, Robert; husband Norman; and a special niece, Barbara Baude. Lois is survived by her sister, Ruth Delano; son, Richard Brown; son, Robert Brown; daughter, Beth White and her husband Glen; stepchildren Brian McCormick and wife Brenda; Mitchell McCormick and wife Denise; grandchildren RJ.Brown; Mason Brown; Morgan Brown; Andrew McCromick and wife Erin; Christopher McCormick; Allan McCormick; Danielle McCormick; Melissa McCormick, and Riley White; great grandchildren Eden and Emilia McCormick."

Death was caused by complications.. She was 84 years old. She leaves two sons Charles I. Markel and Claude A. Markel, both of York; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Kress, with whom she resided; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Ellen Rice Menges Mills. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the C. O. Goodling Funeral home this place. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Earhart, pastor of Jefferson Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in Jefferson cemetery."
