Bruce was born in Lincoln, Maine on February 25, 1942, the second of ten children born to George Irwin and Kathleen Ireland. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following his high school graduation in 1960. He married Connie Alley in 1963 and they had 3 sons. He loved watching all of their sporting events and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was also an avid gardener. He worked most of his career at and retired from the Lincoln Paper Mill. He spent the last several years living in Daytona Beach, Florida walking on the beach, reading, dancing, and enjoying his retirement. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, brother Phillip, and sister Verna. He is survived by three sons: Tim and his wife Laura, Jon and his wife Vicky, Ron and his wife Joan; nine grandchildren: Sara, Whitney, Rebecca, Olivia, Mercedes, Shawn, Rachel, Kelly, and Katie; siblings Marilyn, Gary, Brian, Peter, Mary, Stephen, and Deborah, along with many other family and friends."
