[54516] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 16 February 2021: "Steuben - February 12, 2021, Phyllis (Colson) Dunning passed away at an Ellsworth hospital. She went to be with her Savior and her beloved husband of 62 years, James, along with her parents and family in Heaven. Phyllis was born December 21, 1928, in Steuben, the only child of Jesse and Beatrice (Colson) Colson. She attended Steuben schools and graduated from University of Maine at Machias with her teaching degree. Phyllis brought her education and skills back to the community of Steuben, where she was born and raised, by teaching elementary school at the Ella Lewis School for over 35 years. She was a devout Christian, attending the Steuben Union Church, studying the Bible and making quilts for those in need. She was very fond of cats, leaving behind her 'Miss Kitty.' Along with her husband and parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Marie, at an early age due to a tragic car accident. Phyllis is survived by her son, Kevin J. Dunning and his partner, Tracey Campbell of Milbridge; one granddaughter, whom she did not have the opportunity to meet, Brittany Corbell of Buffalo, New York; and cousins, Willard, Peter and Cindy Colson, all of Southwest Harbor."
