Honey ("Castine Patriot," 8 July 2004, p. 5) reports that John "served as a Sergeant in Captain William Reed's company, enlisting on August 9, 1777, and being discharged on Sept. 28, 1777. Born Nov 6, 1910 at Sullivan, she was the daughter of Percival and Valera (Butler) Hooper. For 32 years she was the organist at the Sullivan Harbor Baptist Church. She worked for many years as the secretary of the Sullivan PTA and on their beano games. She was an avid gardener and kept the church supplied with flowers. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harvey Scott Dunbar of Sullivan; three children, Jane Gross of Moodus, Conn., Paula Ring of No. Sullivan, Phillip Dunbar and his wife, Thelma Dee of Sullivan; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Dunbar of Sullivan; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Allen in 1990, and by her brother, Roy Hooper in 1991. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6-8 pm Friday at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday May 21, 1994 at the Sullivan Harbor Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Watson officiating, Interment will be at York Hill Cemetery, Sullivan."
