He was born Jan. 28, 1926 in Bucksport, the son of Merle and Forestine A. (Leach) Grey. He had been a resident of the Penobscot and Orland area most of his life until recently moving to Ellsworth. He was employed as a truck driver for many years with Merrill Transport. In addition to his mother of Orland, he is survived by a son, Eugene M. Grey of Millington, Tenn.; a daughter Betsy E. Wallace of Friendship; two grandchildren, Signe L. Wallace of Gilford, N.H. and Corey Wallace of Friendship; a brother, Wayne C. Grey of Sandy Point; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland."

Find A Grave Memorial 92978042 offers his obituary: "Ross Reed McKinney, age 75, of 2768 Rock Road, Shelby, died Friday morning at his home. He was born September 19, 1918 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the son of Martin Perry and Edna Simon Waters McKinney. Mr. McKinney was a tool and die maker at General Motors in Ontario retiring in February 1983 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby, the Good Fellowship sunday School Class and had been Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was the chairman of the building committee of the new church which was dedicated in 1968. He was a member of the Ohio Genealogy Society and the Richland County Genealogy Society, the National Rifle Association, Knights of Pythias, a life member of Shelby V.F.W. Post #291, a 60 year member of the Union Grange. He had been a volunteer fireman for 43 years and an auxiliary policeman for 10 years. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre. Mr. McKinney was an avid photographer of covered bridges, presidential homes and county courthouses. Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Vivian (Bly) McKinney whom he married on December 2, 1944; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn A. and James Fidler of Shelby; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Willard M. and Chandra McKinney of Shelby; 5 grandchildren, Scott Rush, Jonathan Rush, Candace McKinney, Kyle Fidler, and Kari Fidler; 2 step grandchilden, Kevin Fidler and Kelly Waldrop; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy McKinney of Shelby; nieces and nephews; 1 son-in-law and his wife, James and Sharon Rush of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Carolyn Lee Rush in 1991."
