[13826] "The Daily Item [Sunbury, Pennsylvania], 10 Mar 1979," p. 8: "Dornsife - Earl R. Geist, 83, Red Cross, Dornsife RD, a retired lumberman, was pronounced dead at l p.m. Friday on arrival in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was taken by the Dalamtia ambulance. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Mr. Geist was a resident of the Red Cross area for the past 48 years and previously lived in Leck Kill. He worked as a lumberman as a young man and was employed by Tressler Lumber Co., Trevorton, for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck; and served in the Army during World War I. Born in Leck Kill Nov. 9, 1895, he was a son of the late Wilson H. and Helen Koppenhaver Geist. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Deitz, whom he married in 1920; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Ann Latsha, of Schuylkill Haven; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester Geist of Leck Kill; and sister, Mrs. Verdle Mattern, a guest at the Friendly Home, Pitman."
[2674] http://members.fortunecity.com/weaverjay/rr01/rr01_075.htm offers: "Wurts' 'Magna Charta', a very poor and unreliable source, calls her Matilda, daughter of Duptory, King of Ireland. But since the wives of both the father and son of Rhodri are given in this source and in Peniarth MS.270 p.246 (late 16th century) it is likely that the latter also records this information, possibly in an unanglicized form ('Margaret' being anachronistic), although Bartrum's 'Welsh Classical Dictionary' neglected to mention it. There was no king of Ireland named Duptory. There were, however, a number of local kings in various parts of Ireland named Dub-something. Of these, the one most resembling 'Duptory' is Dub-Torran mac Thuathain (see CGH p. 219), but his family seems to insignifcant to be intermarrying with Welsh royalty, and there are many other possibilities."

[16740] See "The Kinsman family: Genealogical record of the descendants of Robert Kinsman, of Ipswich, Mass., from 1634 to 1875," Lucy W. Stickney, Kinsman (1876), p. 105 reports that William "graduated from Claverack Academy, Claverack, Columbia County, N.Y., about 1857; studied law; admitted to practice in Council Bluffs, Ia.; when the war broke out, joined the army, rose to the rank of Colonel in the 23rd Iowa Infantry, and fell in battle near Vicksburg, Miss., May 18, 1863, in Grant's army." Find A Grave memorial 12604 offers a fine photo of him and states: "Civil War Union Army Officer. Born in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada, he came to Iowa in 1854 and worked as a lawyer in Council Bluffs until the Civil War broke out in April 1861. Enlisting in the Union Army, he was appointed as Major of the 23rd Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and by 1862 had been promoted to Colonel and commander of the regiment. He was killed in action near Vicksburg, Mississippi during the Vicksburg Campaign while leading his regiment in an assault on Confederate positions along the Black River. Originally interred on the battlefield, he was re-interred in his hometown of Council Bluffs, and a fitting monument was erected over his grave."
[43969] An unverified file in Ancestry.com offers: Sir Thomas Duke of Leeds Osborne was born on April 18, 1542, in Hartlip, Kent, England. He had three sons and one daughter with Wilmeth _____. He died on October 12, 1611, in Ashford, Kent, England, at the age of 69, and was buried in Ashley Green, Buckinghamshire, England. He does not appear to be father of Jeremy!
[52837] Rose is said to be daughter of Richard Otis, Sr. (16251689) & Rose Lydia Stoughton (16291672).
