He passed away at home on March 30, 2023, of a prolonged illness at age 66. He is remembered fondly by his former wife of 44 years, Kathy Harmon, who was a partner in both their home and business. He is survived by his loving daughters, Natalie Houde and husband, Eric, April Armstrong and husband, Derek. He is survived by his siblings, Marilyn Eye, Jane Spencer and Gary Harmon. George was delighted by his six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jackson, Damien, Camden, Allison and Wesley. He is survived also by his former mothers-in-law, Arline Davis and Ann Quimby. He was fortunate to have special people in his life, faithful friend, Ronny Hayward; brother-in-law, Scott Jones; and nephew, Sam Schors, who was like a son to George. He had a special bond with cousin, Vinton Harmon; and was business partners with neighbor and long-time friend, Tom Ashley. He was also predeceased by his sister, Pamela Jones; close friend and brother-in-law, Harry Schors; brother-in-law, Glenn Spencer; fathers-in-law, Vance Davis and Jerry Quimby; and special friend, Alice Merritt. Growing up, George did not have the benefit of abundance, but he had a strong work ethic beginning at a young age. He achieved the American Dream, working hard to provide for his family, and building a home we cherish to this day. One of his earliest memories was riding in the dump truck with Edgar Foss, and throughout his life he worked in trucking, timber harvesting and gravel work. A 1974 graduate of Washington Academy, he co-founded a business of 35 years, Ashley & Harmon Logging in 1987. George had an independent spirit that endured throughout his life. He was a rugged outdoorsman who survived several serious mishaps, including a major boating accident. He made a full recovery from his injuries, his family is eternally grateful to DECH and Life Flight for their services. He loved Gardner Lake, having lived near or on it most of his life and enjoyed his favorite spot, Beaver Ledge. He enjoyed gardening, ice fishing and the solitude of the Maine woods. . . "
