[849] The surname Beaufort is from a castle in Anjou which belonged to Joan's father, John of Gaunt. Joan m. Sir Robert before 30 Sept 1390 and m. Earl Ralph before 03 February 1396/7. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Beaufort,_Countess_of_Westmorland. Find A Grave Memorial 16146333 offers; "Lady Neville (1396), Countess of Westmorland (1397), Lady Companion, Order of the Garter (1399); House of Plantagenet. Lady Joan de Beaufort was born circa 1375 at Chateau de Beaufort, Montmorency-Beaufort, Champagne, France. She was the daughter of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster and Katherine Roet. Her birth was legitimized by Parliament 29 Sep 1397, after the marriage of her parents. As the granddaughter of King Edward III, she is royalty rather than nobility, and her children made excellent marriages into the families of dukes and earls. Her progeny through the centuries is remarkable. Lady Joan de Beaufort first married Sir Robert de Ferrers, 3rd Lord Ferrers of Wem. They had two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary Ferrers. See below. After the death of Sir Robert, Lady Joan married Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland. Together they had 14 children, 9 sons and 5 daughters at Raby Castle, Durham, England. Their children and grandchildren participated in the England and Scotland courts for nearly 100 years, carrying forward the line of the House of Plantagenet, the House of York, and the House of Lancaster. [36780] This person is from the unverified Mowles Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2014.
[58051] Janet's obituary: "Southwest Harbor - Janet Lewis Mitchell 85, passed away peacefully in Bar Harbor on February 25, 2022. Janet was born June 7, 1936, to Chester A. and Grace A. (Butler) Lewis. She grew up on the 'backside' of the island and graduated from Pemetic High School, class of 1954. That year she met the love of her life and married Gardiner Mitchell, Sr. on October 16, 1955. They were married for 65 years prior to his death in 2020. In those 65 years, they traveled and called Matinicus Island, ME, Cape Charles, VA, Buxton, NC, and Wellfleet, MA home before returning to Southwest Harbor to raise their family. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family but also enjoyed caring for a few special summer families that she thought the world of. She and Gardiner loved to garden, and she relished showing off her beautiful gardens to anyone who dropped by her home. She also loved to cook (and was a great cook!) and was known as 'Mother' to her childrens friends who always knew where they could stop for a late-night meal! She is survived by her daughter Pamela, her husband Peter Smith of Southwest Harbor, grandson Nathaniel Brehmer and his wife Shelley of Apopka, FL. ; step-grandchildren Katrina Smith of Silver Springs, MD., Sam (Krista) Smith of North Pole, AK, and Duncan (Gabrielle) Smith of Portland, OR.: son Robert, his wife Jennifer Mitchell of Mount Desert, grandson Robert Jr. 'Brett' of Wiscasset, and granddaughter Caroline 'Calli' of Boston, MA.: four sisters Priscilla Oberheu, Lucille Grant, Sally Beadle, and Sharon Richardson; a brother Chester Lewis, Jr. : half-brother Jamie Lewis, half-sisters Marilyn Damon, Sandra Meier, and Johnna Stewart as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Gardiner, sister Blanche Harper, half-brothers David and Keith Lewis. A spring graveside service will be held 1pm, May 22, 2022, at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor."
[45117] The unverified Holler family tree in 2019 in Ancestry.com offers: Matthew Marvin was born on March 26, 1600, in Great Bentley, Essex, England. He married Elizabeth Gregory in January 1622 in his hometown. They had 12 children in 31 years. He died on December 20, 1678, in Norwalk, Connecticut, having lived a long life of 78 years. Elizabeth Gregory was born in 1604 in Great Bentley, Essex, England. . . . . She died on January 24, 1681, in Hartford, Connecticut, having lived a long life of 77 years. This line requires more research; this Elizabeth Gregory appears to have m. Richard Webb, q.v.

[53346] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 29 March 2023: "Orland - It is with great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude that we announce the passing of our brave and devoted wife, mother, mimi, sister and friend on March 12, 2023. Marnie was born in Castine to Darrell and Ruth (Wardwell) Rollerson on May 16, 1949. She was the fourth of five children, where she grew up in Bucksport. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard, her daughters Molly and Mattie and her grandson, Cade. She is also survived by her older sister Judy White, who was also her closest friend. Marnie first met her husband Richard at the Toddy Pond Marina at the Friday Night Dance in 1966. They were later married in 1970 and by 1976 had purchased the farm on the Back Ridge Road in Orland. For the next 47 years, they, along with their daughters and grandson, dreamed, lived and cultivated the farm life. Most days, you would find Marnie simply doing what she loved: working in her beautiful flower beds, the vegetable garden, mowing the lawn and even the sides of the road, per the request of her cats! You might also catch her weed whacking the ditch or on the back of her beloved horse, Tia. You would often see her traveling the Back Ridge Road on foot with four or five dogs, pausing to stop and chat with her neighbors and often inviting their dogs to join the fun. She was a woman who possessed many talents. She was a homemaker, farmer, small business owner, master gardener, horse riding instructor, an animal lover and advocate, an avid runner and hiker, which included hiking the 100-mile wilderness and paddling the 92 miles of the Allagash Waterway. She loved her dogs, the ocean, her spot on Toddy Pond and was generous, uniquely independent and fiercely loyal to her family."
[59064] Thurston is son of Irving Alphonso Stackpole (1875-1956) & Ella Gertrude Fuller (1888-1948; m. 23 September 1908 in Ellsworth Falls, Hancock Co., ME). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 22 November 2008: "Ellsworth - Thurston E. Stackpole, 89, died Nov. 19, 2008, in Ellsworth. He was born April 20, 1919, in Ellsworth, the son of Irving A. and Elva G. (Fuller) Stackpole. Thurston was a dairy farmer and woodsman. He enjoyed his many hours working in his vegetable garden. He was passionate about horses. They were a huge part of his life, through working with draft and saddle horses. That love was passed on to his family. He is survived by daughters, Lillian DeBeck and husband, Kenneth, of Ellsworth and Karla Munroe and husband, Robert, of New York; grandchildren, Michael DeBeck and wife, Paula, of Ellsworth and Benjamin and Victoria Preble of New York; great-granddaughter, Sabrina DeBeck; sister, Elva Gray of York Beach; nephews, Terry Gray and Lester Stackpole; and special friend, Barbara Monroe of Winterport. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian (Gray); brothers, Lewis, Alton and Everett; and sisters, Esther and Eliza."
