[26997] In 2007 http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/DENMARK.htm offers: " Illegitimate son of King Svend listed in 'Knytlinga Saga', third in order in the list, while Saxo Grammaticus lists him ninth in order and implies that he was the full brother of Erik. He and his brother Harald and their uncle Asbjørn led the fleet sent to invade England in 1069 by his brother King Svend II. He challenged the succession of his brother Harald in 1074, supported in particular by the Scanians, but went into exile when he was unsuccessful. Jarl in Sjælland 1074. He invaded England in 1075, joining a revolt against William I King of England, raiding Yorkshire. He succeeded his brother in 1080 as Knud II 'den Hellige/the Holy' King of Denmark. He led expeditions against the Curones (in coastal Latvia, later Courland) and Estonians. He was planning another invasion of England with his father-in-law in 1085, but was delayed 'almost two years by the adverseness of the wind, changed his design, affirming that it must be the determination of God that he could not put to sea', but later being 'misled by the suggestions of some persons who attributed the failure of their passage to the conjurations of certain old women, he sentenced the chiefs whose wives were accused . . . to an intolerable fine' and was murdered in consequence. He was besieged in the church of St Alban, while praying, by 'the mutinous populace' who eventually broke in and killed him on the altar. Canonised 1100 by Pope Pascal II, feast day 19 Jan. - m ([1080]) as her first husband, Adela de Flandre, daughter of Robert I 'le Frison' Count of Flanders & his wife Gertrud of Saxony [Billung] ([1065]-Apr 1115). Her marriage and parentage are referred to by 'Saxo Grammaticus'. She returned to Flanders from Denmark after her husband's murder with her son, leaving her daughters behind. She married James Malcolm (Rev.) Smith on January 12, 1864. They had six children in 13 years. She died on August 29, 1906, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 66, and was buried in Rockford, Michigan.

His marriage had already (15 May) been granted to the Bishop, who in 1399 assigned it to Elizabeth, Lady Clifford, and others. On 28 Jul 1400 Henry IV granted to John, lord of Latymer, still under age, custody of the manors of Scampston and Terrington. He was summoned to Parliament from 25 Aug 1404 to 27 Nov 1430, by writs directed Johanni de Latymer or Johanni Latymer chivaler. He was one of the lords who on 22 Dec 1406 sealed the second Act of Succession and swore to support the same; and about that time his name occurs on a list of those summoned to attend a Great Council. He married, before 24 Jul 1406, Maud, daughter of Thomas, 6th Lord Clifford. From her he was divorced casusa frigiditatis ujusdem Johannis Nevill and, having no issue, he settled the greater part of his estate (although derived through his mother) on his brother of the half blood, Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland, to the exclusion of his heir, his sister of the whole blood, Elizabeth. He died s.p., 10 Dec 1430, desiring (in his will) to be buried in St. Mary's Abbey, York, "where I have put my stone". His divorced wife Maud married, as 2nd wife, Richard, Earl of Cambridge, who was executed 5 Aug 1415. She died s.p., 26 Aug 1446, and was buried in Roche Abbey, co. York.
