[60801] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 1 November 2025: "Stonington, Maine - Jack W. Hamblen Jr. passed on October 28, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Jack was born in Castine on New Year's Day 1945 to May and Jack W. Hamblen Sr. of Deer Isle, Maine. He leaves behind his loving and faithful wife of 59 years, Audrey; daughters, Deborah and partner, Walter, and Darleen; and son, Jack and partner, Bridget; sister, Melinda and husband, Gordon; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ava, whom he adored and treasured. Jack moved to Stamford, Connecticut, and obtained his journeyman license from Pitney-Bowes apprentice program as a tool and diemaker. Jack held positions at Billings Diesel and Marine in Stonington as a tool and diemaker. Jack also worked at the Stonington Lobster Co-op. Jack was employed as a pioneer mussel farmer by the Great Eastern Mussel Farms. Mussels were sold nationwide in grocery stores as well as restaurants in New York City. Jack willingly helped his family and those who needed a helping hand. Jack, along with his parents established 'Hamblen's Seafood.' Local restaurants and Inn's purchased smoked fish, crab meat, mussels, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Family vacations to various destinations included: New Hampshire and Myrtle Beach with Robert and Colleen Burgess of Stonington, and later camping at the Shady Oaks campground. He was known as 'Ice Cream Jack.' Jack and Audrey traveled to St. Croix, various cruises, Washington State, Connecticut, and Florida. An avid golfer from the age of ten, Jack played golf his entire life winning club tournaments, four holes in one, and the President's Cup at the Island Country Club in Deer Isle. Upon retirement, Jack was a groundskeeper at the Bucksport golf course. Jack also worked for B.K. Burgess in Deer Isle as a carpenter. Jack was a dedicated lifelong faithful husband, father, son, and grandfather, golfing partner and friend. Jack's contagious smile, love of ice cream, and kind heart will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by those he knew him."
