Edison, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday at the Carlyle Nursing Home after a one-week illness. She was retired from the former Childrens Aid Society (now the Family and Children Center). She was born on April 8, 1895, in St. Joseph County, where she lived all her life. On Feb. 14, 1914. in South Bend, she married Clarence G. Milliken, who died in 1963. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Snowden of South Bend; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Verna Chase of South Bend and Mrs. Ruby Mabry of Crystal River, Fla., and a brother, James Arthur Geist of Granger. Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, with D. Hopkins officiating Burial was to be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mrs. Milliken was a member of the Northern Indiana Center of the Blind and the Gleaners Sewing Circle."

Father of Mary (Ridley) Sparks, Ann Ridley, Ann (Ridley) Fish, Thomas Ridley, James Ridley SR, Sarah (Ridley) Dyer, John Ridley, Mark Ridley, Thankful (Ridley) Smalley, Elizabeth (Ridley) Lombard and Deborah (Ridley) Newcomb. Died August 28, 1767 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Biography: Thomas was the son of Captain Mark Ridley of Northumberland, England. Captain Ridley, whom some say sailed from Truro, Cornwall, made several trans-Atlantic trips between England and the newly-established Plymouth Colony in the 17th Century. Family tradition says that his son Thomas was born on a voyage to New England with Captain Ridley and his wife. Thomas is said by some to have been their only child while others say he had 2 sisters: Mary (b. 1671) and Elizabeth (b. 1678, who married John Snow, Jr.). They may have been half sisters as no proven reference to Mark Ridley's wife (or wives) has been found. According to other sources Thomas Ridley was born in Truro, Massachusetts (Barnstable), in or about 1685. On August 5, 1706, Thomas Ridley married Martha Strout of Eastham, Massachusetts. Their first daughter, named Mary, was born March 12, 1707, just seven months later. The Ridleys had 10, children including four sons. Thomas Ridley died in August 1767 of smallpox and was buried in an isolated grave near Truro, Massachusetts. The original grave site is lost but a modern commemorative headstone, said to have been copied from the original, states that he died in his 82nd year. Burial site is the Old North Cemetery, Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts." [2614] Aethelweard I held Berkhamstead and Wycombe in England. He is known as "The Historian." He was thegn in Sussex in 973 and Earl in Devonshire in 1005. http://www.fact-index.com/a/ae/aethelweard.html offers: "Æthelweard (Ethelward), Anglo-Saxon historian, was the great-grandson of Æthelred, the brother of Alfred, and ealdorman or earl of the western provinces (i.e. probably of the whole of Wessex). He first signs as dux or ealdorman in 973, and continues to sign until 998, about which time his death must have taken place. In the year 991 he was associated with archbishop Sigeric in the conclusion of a peace with the victorious Danes from Maldon, and in 994 he was sent with Bishop Ælfheah of Winchester to make peace with Olaf at Andover. Æthelweard was the author of a Latin Chronicle extending to the year 975. Up to the year 892 he is largely dependent on the Saxon Chronicle, with a few details of his own; later he is largely independent of it. Æthelweard gave himself the bombastic title "Patricius Consul Quaestor Ethelwerdus," and unfortunately this title is only too characteristic of the man. His narrative is highly rhetorical, and as he at the same time attempts more than Tacitean brevity his narrative is often very obscure. Æthelweard was the friend and patron of Ælfric the grammarian.
