[33441] Isaac Harris was killed in the Revolutionary War battle referred to as "Foreman's Defeat" on 27 September 1777 in VA. This battle took place on the Ohio river at a place named McMechen Narrows near present day Wheeling, West Virginia. (- Source: http://www.historichampshire.org/foreman.htm) For Isaac's birthplace, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meherrin,_Virginia. The unverified Clark Family Tree states Isaac m. in 1753 in Meherrin Parish, VA Elizabeth Wooten (1730-1821) and that Isaac is son of Henry Harris (b. 1670 in Wales) who arrived in Middlesex Co., VA ca. 1683-84. Ancestry.com offers: "Harris Name Meaning - English and Welsh (very common in southern England and South Wales): patronymic from the medieval English personal name Harry, pet form of Henry. This name is also well established in Ireland, taken there principally during the Plantation of Ulster. In some cases, particularly in families coming from County Mayo, both Harris and Harrison can be Anglicized forms of Gaelic Ó hEarchadha."
