She was born in Bangor, September 1, 1930, the daughter of Stanley Michael Conners and Nina Bell (Carmalt) Conners. Joyce graduated from Bangor High School in 1949. She married Frederick Francis Caffery Sr., in 1952. The couple built a house on Eddyway Street in Bangor, and operated an accounting business from their home. They worked side by side for many years. After retirement, Joyce spent summers next to her pool with beloved family and friends. Fred and Joyce spent winters in Myrtle Beach near their niece and close friend, Constance Hollifield. Joyce was an avid bowler, both in leagues and on memorable family outings. She was always willing to lend a hand on things like neighborhood campaigns to raise funds for charities such as the 'March of Dimes.' Joyce is survived by son, James Charles Caffery; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Stanley Dougherty, both of Watertown, MA. She is also survived by sister, Rosemary Malcolm of Freeport, ME; and sister-in-law, Geneva Ann (Malone) Conners of Bangor. Joyce cherished her nieces and nephews. She is survived by many. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her son, Frederick Francis Jr.; and her husband, Frederick Francis Sr. She was also predeceased by four brothers and their wives: William J. Conners, Stanley M. Conners and wife, Marie (Tsoulas) Conners, Linwood J. Conners and wife, Lois (Nason) Conners, and Franklin J. Conners. Joyce was predeceased by two sisters, Althea N. (Conners) Washburn and husband, James Washburn, and Gloria L. (Conners) Cormier and husband, R. Joseph Cormier; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Malcom."
