[1252] His siblings are supplied by Marston Watson (a descendant), see under his father. Pierce's Colonial Lists (p. 5) lists him as Marshal at Sandwich, MA from June, 1698 to 1692 and (p. 14) as a Selectman, 1689-90. It is interesting that the NEGHR Oct 1849, p. 352, lists William Bassett, Sr. and William Bassett, Jr. as Freemen in Lynn, MA 18 April 1691. Find A Grave memorial 37614226 offers: "Grandson of Captain William Bassett of Plymouth, Massachusetts, who arrived on the Fortune in 1621. Who was the gunsmith of Plymouth and whos sword can still be seen at the Pilgrim's Memorial Hall. His father was Deacon William Bassett and his mother was Mary (Raynesford) Bassett. Colonel William Bassett - was Marshall of Plymouth Colony at the time of the Union with Mass. and a judge of the Inferior Court in 1710. He was an excellent penman, and wrote in a very small, yet distinct and beautiful hand. Third successive William Bassett of this line was the 'Hon. Judge' William Bassett of Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Being but fourteen years of age when his father died, guardianship was granted to Mr. Hinckley, later Governor of the Colony. William Bassett attained considerable distinction in the colony. In addition to serving as a captain in the militia and member of the war council in 1689, he became a judge of the superior court of Massachusetts from 1710-1715, also serving as chief marshall of Plymouth colony from 1689-1692. He was stated to be 'the most distinguished of any of the name in Massachusetts.'"

[28377] Albert Douglass Hart, Jr. offers at http://www.renderplus.com/hartgen/htm/cousins.htm that Thomas is son of Isaac Cousins and reports: "Isaac Cousins - was born about 1613 in England and died on 23 Jul 1702 in Boston, MA. Isaac married Elizabeth. She died on 14 Oct 1656 in Boston, MA. Isaac Cousins emigrated before 1643 from Marlborough, Wiltshire Co., England. An expert gunsmith and locksmith, and rolling stone, living in Rowley in 1647, Boston and Dorchester, besides negotiating for settlement with New London, Connecticut in 1651, Haverhill in 1652, Ipswich in 1656, Portsmouth, where he was received as a tradesman in 1659, and a connection with North Yarmouth, Maine in 1678. He was warned out of Dorchester (a method of getting rid of undesirables and dissenters) in 1691 'having a long time bin an inhabitant of Boston and now being aged', and died in the Boston poorhouse, 23 July 1702. He filed a suit against Richard Priest of Boston in 1696 for withholding household goods where in the house where Isaac and Martha his late wife had lived." Hart further reports: "Thomas - was living in Wells in 1666. Thomas doubtless living in his boyhood with his sister Elizabeth Barrett in Wells. He took an oath of fidelity, July 7, 1670. In 1675 he served in King Philip's War. In 1684, Thomas received a grant of 100 acres west of the river which forms boundary between Wells and Kennebunk, ME and southeast of the post road, which was obtained from town of Wells, ME. He was driven away with other settlers by Indians in 1690 and may have been slain during the warfare as there is no further record of him, and his farm was in the possession of his children in 1717."

[51861] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 18 October 2022": "Winter Harbor - Richard E. Gerrish passed peacefully in his home at Winter Harbor, Maine, October 14, 2022, at the age of seventy-seven. Richard was born at MDI Hospital, Bar Harbor, Maine, August 8, 1945. He was raised in the town of Winter Harbor, where he raised a family of his own. He was a devoted family man to many generations. Some of his fondest recollections are the days of hunting with his boys and attending their ball games - he spoke often that they were his most treasured memories. He shared his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, following their many activities. Richard dedicated more than 60 years of his life to the volunteer fire service in addition to his time spent as a federal firefighter and EMT. He was an inspiration to many up-and-coming fire fighters and EMTs. He was very involved in the annual Winter Harbor Lobster Festival and Trade Day throughout his years. Richard was a devoted Mason and treasured that brotherhood. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Alta Laura (Myrick) Gerrish; and sister, Barbara Lilly. He is survived by his two sons, Brian Gerrish and Wesley Gerrish; daughter-in-law, Victoria Gerrish; brother-in-law, James Lilly; nieces, Cathy Carruthers, Susan Campbell and her husband, Wayne Campbell, Lesli Gerrish and Sarah Bagley; grandchildren, Ryan Gerrish and his partner, Taylor Trombley, Gabe Gerrish and his partner, Lance Days, Dylan Gerrish, Kristen Gerrish, Keira Eschete, and Logan Leighton; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Kidder, Jace Gerrish and Bryson Gerrish; great-niece, Laura Carruthers Mahon and her husband, Bobby Mahon; great-great-nieces, Madison Mahon and Mackenzie Mahon; close friends, Peggy and Dick White, Robert Webber, Barbara Jean Bragdon, Tatum Mclean, Danielle Leighton, and many of his brothers in the masonic lodge, and brothers and sisters in the fire/EMT department."
