[58348] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 21 August 2023: "Bucksport - Helen Marie Johnson, 87, went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 17, 2023. She was born on March 30, 1936, in Bucksport, Maine, the daughter of Vincent and Hildred (White) Conners. Helen enjoyed a carefree and innocent childhood in a loving family in the bucolic environs of the family farm on the Siver Lake Road. She adored her father and mother and her two sisters. The three sisters were close in age, Helen being the middle child in between Barbara and Gloria. From their early days of childhood throughout the duration of their lives they remained the best of friends. Through a dare from her older sister, Helen took a seat on the school bus with teenage neighbor Bob, the son of Scandinavian immigrants who had recently moved into the community. From that seat on the school bus, she began a lifelong friendship with C. Robert Johnson, being married on June 19, 1955. They enjoyed sixty-two harmonious years of marriage together until Bob's 'home-going' in 2018. After graduating from Bucksport High School in the class of 1954 Helen packed her bags, moved to Washington D.C., and began work as a secretary in the Dept of Defense. She used her capable skills in several positions during the years her husband served in the Navy and in the following years as he pursued further education. Eventually these business skills found their greatest fulfillment in her many years of faithful service as secretary of the Bucksport Bible Church. In addition to her faithful love to her husband, Helen shared the same unselfish love with her two children and eventually with her grandchildren. Her peaceful and gentle presence made her home a welcoming haven of rest. As children and grandchildren grew up, she showed interest in each one's development and pursuits with support and unconditional love. Helen was deeply fulfilled by the normal routines of her home and family gatherings. Though perfectly content at home she was also a happy traveler when she had opportunity with her husband to travel to various places in the U.S., to Norway, and to spend several winters in Florida in Bob's bus-sized RV. Helen's journey of faith began as a young adult when she was first introduced by other family members to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the grace of God Helen placed her faith in Jesus as the Son of God and her personal Savior. This conversion and salvation impacted Helen throughout all her life as she lived in the joy and peace of God's grace. She demonstrated her love for God faithfully in her church family at the Bucksport Bible Church. She was loved by all for her gracious and gentle spirit. Helen is survived by her two children, Kerry Trumble and her husband Michael of Winchester, VA, and Dana Johnson and his wife Renee, of Ipswich, MA, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Gloria Harriman of Canaan, Maine, and many nieces and nephews."

Jacob Kroh (son of Henry Kroh and Anna Barbara Richard/Reichert) was born 12 Dec 1794 in Berks County, PA. He was Baptised at Zion's Blue Mountain Church, Strausstown, Berks County, Pennsylvania. . . . .He died 10 Apr 1856 in Tiffin, Ohio. He married (1) Sara Tice (daughter of John Tice and Elizabeth Kiesecker) on 20 Apr 1820 in Hagerstown, Maryland. After her death, he married (2) Margaret Mercer/McClure(b. 1814) on 15 Apr 1841 in Tiffin, Ohio. Jacob Kroh was born Dec. 12, 1794, and at the time of the burning of Washington* he concluded that he was old enough to aid his country, and accordingly, saddling his own horse, started out for the seat of war.
About 1827 he went with his family to Ohio, and was among the early settlers of Seneca County. He assisted in building the first German Reformed Church, at Tiffin, in that county, and subsequently was Treasurer and Secretary of the Heidelburg College established there. He was also Treasurer of the American Bible Society, which place he was filling at the time of his death. In addition to this he served as Justice of the Peace many years, and held various other township offices. Politically, he was an old-line Democrat, and maintained his principles with all the natural strength of his character. Jacob Kroh was twice married and the father of seventeen children, eleven of whom were living at the time of his death. He died in Seneca County, Ohio, April 10, 1856, and his wife Sara Tice who was born Oct. 18, 1810, preceded her husband to the silent land, her death taking place Sept. 6, 1838. Jacob Kroh started in life with a capital of a few hundred dollars, but at the time of his decease was one of the wealthiest men of Seneca County. He gave to each of his children a liberal education, and some of them occupied themselves afterward as teachers. They were also prominent and worthy citizens, the result of their careful home training, and their natural inheritance of principles of uprightness and strict integrity.
