Janet had many friends and family in the Cherryfield area, and especially close to her were her cousin, Dick Fickett and wife, Joyce; and dear friends Nancy Willey of Cherryfield, and Libby Joyce of Columbia, who did Janet's hair for nearly 50 years. Special thanks to the staff of Seaport Village of Ellsworth for Janet's care during the months of her declining health. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great joy in keeping and decorating the interior of her home, as well as the exterior, especially during the Fourth of July and Christmas. She and her late husband Harold won many awards for their patriotic and festive decorations during the Cherryfield Days events over the years and served as Grand Marshals of the parade during Cherryfield's Bicentennial Celebration in 2016."

[37073] The 1940 federal census in Penn Twp., Berks Co., PA lists Francis H. Zerbe as head of the household (age 50) with wife Mary K. (55), and sons Francis B. (20) and Henry F. (15) as well as adopted son Harry Peoples (12). The 1930 federal census in this twp. lists the family, and also shows son Alvin S. (age 8). Francis draft registration in 1942 reports he r. R.D. 1, Bernville, is 6'1" tall, weighs 202 lbs. and is employed by the U. S. Government in Bernville - curiously the draft registration occured in McKean Co., PA, far from Bernville; Francis must have been posted to this area by his employer. Son Francis B. Zerbe r. in Wernersville in 1980 and in Bernville in1988 - see "United States Public Records, 1970-2009," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KRYZ-7ST).
