Chandler, 77, of 2501 37th St. died of a respiratory ailment Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Chandler was born in Hancock and lived in Des Moines 33 years. He was a retired director of area development with Iowa Power and Light, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Warren Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Des Moines Optimist Club, Iowa Professional Developers and the Tourism Committee of the Iowa Development Commission. Survivors include his wife, Winnie; two daughters, Vickie Anderson of Des Moines and Cathie Fane of El Campo, Texas; three sisters, Noyan Schaaf of Avoca, Wanda Chandler of Omaha and Elaine Anderson of Victoria, Minn.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild."
