[51360] "The Ellsworth American [ Ellsworth, Maine], 26 May 2015": "Winslow - Wayne Richard Leach, 77, of Winslow passed away on May 19, 2015, at Mount Saint Joseph Assisted Living facility in Waterville after a brief battle with glioblastoma. Wayne was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Ellsworth. He was the son of Walter Rayford and Madeline (Scott) Leach. Wayne attended several schools growing up due to his fathers work as a teacher and principal. He graduated from Calais High School, where he played JV and varsity basketball. He also attended Farmington Teachers College. Wayne married Elizabeth Deering Nichols on Jan. 18, 1959. He later married Pauline Faye Reynolds in June 1971. He and Pauline divorced in 2008. Both of his ex-wives remained his friends right until the end. Pauline was by his side at every possible moment throughout his illness and Elizabeth visited often. Wayne was a hard worker his entire life, holding a variety of jobs through the years. He raked blueberries, cut wood, drove over a million accident-free miles as a truck driver, and was a landlord in the greater Waterville area. He was a partner in a swimming pool service company in Fairfield and Jacksonville, Fla. Wayne became a paralegal and wrote several books of poetry. He also hand-built the home in Winslow where he resided for many years. He enjoyed walks in the surrounding woods and even built a remote cabin where he spent many hours reading and writing. Wayne was very active politically. In the last several years, he devoted countless hours to research, attending political functions, working to hold public figures accountable to their constitutional oaths, and protecting individual rights. He had many meetings with Governor LePage and other political figures in Maine and elsewhere. Wayne was predeceased by his parents and his only brother, Arlyn. He is survived by his four sons: Craig and wife, Sarah, of Norridgewock; Clark of Winslow; Christopher and wife, Lorena, of San Antonio, Texas; and Nathan and wife, Meribeth, of Gorham. Wayne is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jeremy, Seth, Timothy, Chanler, Aiyana, Donovan, Derek, Thomas, Shelby, Elizabeth and Emily; and three great-grandchildren: Shiloh, McKenna and Takoda."
