Mr. Briner was superintendent of schools in Harper when he retired. He was bom in Oskaloosa, the son of Eli and Alma Esham Briner. Mr. Briner was a member of Harper United Methodist church. His wife, Mrs. Shirley Briner, survives. Other survivors include a son, Merlin G. Briner, Canton, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Jacquelyn Hooper, Port Costa, Calif.; three stepsons, Rod Opliger, Wichita, Randall Opliger, Lenexa, and Jonathan Opliger, Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 13 in DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita. Graveside services were Jan. 13 in Reading Cemetery at Reading."

Mr.s Willey was the daughter of Robert Phillips (Cherryfield) and Laura Burke (Steuben). Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Connors, Mrs. Arthur Davis and Mrs Raleigh Brooks of Cherryfleld; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wilson of Cherryfleld and Mrs. Clara Bunker of Franklin; one brother, Perley Phillips of Concord, N.H.; 31 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren." Minnie is daughter of Robert Mitchell Phillips (1847-1932) & Laura Ann Burke (1851-1922; m. 21 November 1868 in Steuben, Washington Co., ME).
