Eben and Emma had a daughter, Henrietta Emma Beal, b 1871 and d 1893. Emma, his wife died in 1871. Eben then married, Eliza Jane Beal in 1873, daughter of John Coffin and Elsie S (Alley) Beal. Eben and Eliza had three children, Jefferson A 1874-1874, Charles Eben 1875-1876 and William Horace, 1879-1902, William was unmarried and died of tuberculosis. Eben then married in 1882, Nancy Etta Alley, daughter of Levi K and Harriet (Foss) Alley. Nancy had been previously married to Charles Tabbutt Norton, who died in 1881. She was born July 23, 1931, in St. Francis, Maine. Her parents were Edmund J. and Annie (Morin) Emery. She attended schools in Fort Kent before moving to Portland where she graduated from Deering High School in 1949. She worked for many years with banking and insurance firms in Portland, Ellsworth, and Bucksport, and retired from Champion Paper (Verso) Company in 1988. Always active, she was a member of the Federation of the Women's Garden Club, a lifetime member of the Bucksport Garden Club, the Bucksport Historical Society and past president of the former October Club. She was a longtime member and trustee of the Franklin Street United Methodist Church and treasurer of the Women's Society of Christian Service. Freida will also be remembered for her pride in her Maine Acadian decent, fierce independence, creativity, and fondly for her 'all knowingness' as 'Freida 5-0.' She is survived by three children, Gary Sturtevant and wife, Debbie Towle, of Naples, FL, Donna Casey and husband, Richard, of Falmouth, Michael Sturtevant and wife, Tracy, of Casco; as well as stepchildren, Cathy Lee of Bangor, Kim Day of Washington, D.C., Donna Doucette and husband, Gregory, of Cumberland, and son, David R. Chase of Vass, North Carolina. Freida leaves many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. She was predeceased by husband, Richard O. Chase; eldest daughter, Wanda Sturtevant; and sisters, Judy Nedeau, Edwina Layton, and Sheila Deabay."
