He was born at Jonesport March 5, 1929, the son of Arnold R. and Phyllis (Beal) Beal. He was educated in Jonesport schools and served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He spent most of his life on the water, herring seining and lobster fishing. In his last few years he enjoyed woodworking. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte (Dobbins) Beal; his mother, Phyllis M. Beal; his children, Muriel Pineo and her friend Bradley, Woodward Gary Beal and his friend Kathy Dobbin, Thomas and Karen Beal, and John Beal, all of Jonesport, Nancy and Stanley Hooper of Blue Hill, Glenda and Kirby Davis of Cherryfield, Peter and Teresa Beal of Beals, Jill and Tom Harrington of Exeter; a sister, Janice Mitchell of Bangor; grandchildren Lynn and Stephanie Smith, Michelle Mills, Jaime and Jennifer Hooper, Guy Alan Beal, Melissa and Kristina Beal, Wendy and Wayne Dube; his mother-in-law Cecelia Dobbins; a brother and sister-in-law Millard and Donna Dobbins; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Arnold R. Beal. Alan had many friends including a very special friend Paul Williams of Liverpool, England."
