Burke's "Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies," (London, 1841, p. 622): "Nicholas Gascoigne, of Lasingcroft, was ancestor of John Gascoigne, esq. of Lasingcroft, Parlington and Barnbow, who was advanced to the dignity of a Baronet of Nova Scotia by Charles I in 1635. He m. Anne, daughter of John Ingleby, esq. of Laukland, in Yorkshire, by whom he has four sons and six daughters....." He was employed with Schmidts Super Market for 25 years, and was a member of the Schmidt Brothers Bowling team. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lansing. Surviving are the wife Naomi; 1 son, John A. Shoemaker of Bladensburg. Maryland; 1 daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Beecher of Ypsilanti, 7 grandchildren; 2 greatgrandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Robert Milley of Paradise, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held Mon. 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runchiman Lansing Chapel with Rev. Wm. H. Underwood of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment in Deepdale Memorial Park."
