[40567] John and his family are provided by the unverified Ancestral File # 8JJM-20 in 2016 which offers: "Per "Annals of Buffalo Valley PA", pg 418, he served on the first Grand Jury convened in Mifflinburg 14 Feb 1814. He moved with his family to White Deer Twp. in 1811. According to the WTS Gen. he left Lancaster Co. PA to go to White Deer. His dau. Elizabeth, he and his wife took letters of dismission from Derry Church April 1, 1811. His father is Henry BOAL, a Rev. War soldier according to 'History of Susquehanna & Juniata Valleys' Vol. 2, pp. 1333-1334 by Ellis & Hungerford. This same source states he bought a farm from George Hoffman in 1810 which was near a river across which he oper. a ferry boat as had been done by the previous owner, Hoffman. However, his parentage is disputed by David B. BOLES who says his parents are John BOLE and Elizabeth CRAIG citing a power of attorney and land deeds (Docs. #1643). He was a descendant of a good family from northern Ireland. He was a prominent man and father of Elizabeth who m. Matthew LAIRD, Mary who m. John REZNOR, Sophia who m. Samuel WOODS, Margaret, and Mary who m. J. Foster WILSON. But, according to Doc. #500, his bro. was Henry BOAL and James BOAL was the f/o both. Other references to him in 'Annals' are as follows: Listed as a resident of White Deer in 1811, pg 392; a road passing through his land in 1802, pg. 335; farm mentioned as part of border for voting districts 29 Mar 1813; husb. of Elizabeth KLINGSMITH in 1780 _______ at pg. 190; d. 1819 pg. 443 (Doc. #503) Doc. #510 gives a location of his farm in PA."
