He was born in Cherryfield, the last of the 12 children of Arthur P. and Gladys (Willey) Davis. While attending Cherryfield Academy, Elwood worked summers at the local blueberry factories and 60-plus years later returned to Jasper Wyman & Sons at their C & D Compound in Deblois. In the intervening years he served in the U.S. Navy, was a coastal warden with the Maine Department of Sea and Shore Fisheries, was a security guard at Winter Harbor Naval Base and worked on construction of power lines with Seaward Construction, where he traveled from Maine to Florida. Elwood was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Luther 'Brud,' Harry 'Tink' and William 'Billy'; and eight sisters, Helen Harrington, Leola Morse, Marie Leighton, Pearl Ashe, Virginia Davis, Ruthie at one-year-old, Gladys Whitton and Shirley Davis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith (Sullivan) Davis; son and best friend, Kirby Davis and wife, Rebecca, of Cherryfield; a sister-in-law, Adelaide Davis of Cherryfield; a brother-in-law, Anthony Whitton of Leominster, Mass.; many nieces and nephews."

[28867] Owen's obituary: "ORLAND - Owen L. Gray, Sr., 83, passed peacefully at his home in Orland on March 22, 2002. He was born June 17, 1918 in Orland, the son of Alvertie E. and Carrie L. (Grey) Gray, Sr. Owen served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from St. Regis Paper Co. in Bucksport, after 35 years of service. Mr. Gray was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Bucksmills Rod & Gun Club, and the Rising Sun Lodge No. 71 AF & AM of Orland. Owen loved to take rides in his car around the state with his family. He is survived by his companion, Kathleen Simpson of Orland; four sons, Owen L. "Bud" Gray Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Orland, Robert A. Gray and his wife, Cathy of Eureka, Fla., Arthur J. Gray and his wife, Edythe of Orland, and Kenneth O. Gray and his wife, Sheila of Carmel; three brothers, Foster Gray and his wife, Irene of Dedham, Alvertie Gray Jr. and his wife, Carol of Bucksport, and Lloyd Gray and his wife, Roberta of Augusta; three sisters, Iona Elmore of Lafayette, Ind., Lora Donnell of Bucksport, and Mildred Miller of Dedham; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara (Henderson) Gray in 1988; his twin brother Olin; his sister Erma Patten; and three brothers, Marshall, Norman, and Kenneth. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport."

She was baptised at St. Mary and St. Bartholomew Church in Hampton-in-Arden on June 4, 1583. Lettice was the first wife of John Drake. They were married on June 25, 1616 in Hampton-in-Arden. There are several baptism records for children born to John Drake and his wife Lettice between 1616 and 1622. Lettice died in Hampton-in-Arden in November, 1623, and was buried in the churchyard of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew on November 10. John must have remarried, because in 1625, there is a record of a child born to John Drake and Elizabeth . . . "
