Garlin of RD2 Loysville; two brothers, David R. Briner of New Germantown and Miles G. Briner of Mechanicsburg; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace M. Valentine, who died Nov. 21, 1992."

Leavitt, 86, passed away after a brief illness on September 16, 2023, in Houlton, surrounded by his adoring family. He was born in Lincoln, October 8, 1936, the son of the late Howard and Lottie (English) Leavitt. He attended Lee Academy and graduated from the University of Maine in 1957. Following college graduation, Lou served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He then worked at Agway for more than 30 years. Lou was a member of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M., where he recently received his 50-year pin. He was also an active member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Leavitt was married to his loving wife, Nancy Ann Kilbride, for 61 years, and she predeceased him in 2019. He was also predeceased by his grandson and great-grandson. He is survived by his children, Lou-Ann Milton of Poland, Cindy Kinney of Caribou, Scott Leavitt of Fort Fairfield, and Danny Leavitt of Caribou; 5 grandchildren; and 9 very special great-grandchildren."

Velma was born May 26, 1925 to Hollis & Hannah (Strout) Leighton. In 1944, Velma met and married Warren Workman and the two made their home and raised their daughters, Barbara and Brenda, in Southwest Harbor. A hard-working woman all her life, Velma worked a variety of jobs including Stinson's Sardine Factory, The First National Bank in Southwest Harbor and picking crabmeat with friends at local crab shops. Velma loved to cook, and enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends over the years. From her famous boiled dinners to her wonderful Red Velvet Cake and homemade ice cream, every meal was made with love. She loved spending time at camp on Graham Lake with family and friends playing cards, relaxing, fishing and of course . . . cooking! She also loved bowling with her husband, raising her children and grandchildren and her beautiful flower gardens that Warren lovingly tended for her. She was predeceased by her parents, Hollis & Hannah Leighton; her husband, Warren; daughters, Barbara Workman and Brenda Seavey; granddaughter, Lisa Harper; grandson, Matthew Walls; her siblings, Linwood, Theresa, Maggie, Lena, Alton and Sherwood.
