Reitz, of Leck Kill, Pa., died in the Pottsville Hospital, December 26, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Reitz was the daughter of the late John and Louise Haupt Gottshall of West Cameron. Surviving are her husband, five sons, one of whom is Dr. M. L. Reitz of Tower City, and four daughters, 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother also survive. Funeral services were held from the Lawrence Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, on Sunday afternoon, with further services in St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, pastor Wm. Marburger officiating. Mrs. Reitz was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its Women's Missionary Society. Burial was in the church cemetery."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 2 August 1927, p. 12: "Gertrude, wife of Wesley Herrick, passed away July 28, at the Hagan hospital, Lamoine. She was born in North Ellsworth, 35 years ago, daughter of the late Horace and Jeanette Maddox. Sixteen years ago she was married and since then had lived in Brewer until two months ago, when they mored to North Lamoine. Seven children survive her, youngester only a few days old. Besides these, a husband, and aunt, who has been a loving mother to her since the death of her own mother when she was but three years of age. Two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Clifford Patten of Ellsworth, Mrs. William Gillis, Roscoe and Leon Maddox, all of Danforth, remain to mourn her loss. Mrs. Herrick wa a woman of worthy character, a faithful snd loving wife, a kind mother and a gracious friend and neighbor. She had a large circle of friends, who feel genuine sorrow at her passing out. Funeral services, which were attended by large number of friends, were held at the home on Saturday afternoon, July 30. Rev. Henry Conley officiating. Burial at North Ellsworth cemetery."
