He was born in Belmont, the son of Arthur, and Mabel (Whitehead) Staples. A graduate of the Bangor schools, he was employed for 41 years at the Eastern Corporation. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of South Brewer. Survivors, besides his wife of South Brewer, are two daughters, Mrs. Richard Bredesen of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Lewis Giles of Hampden; three sons, Robert E. Staples of Ellsworth, Ralph L. Staples of Orono, Paul R. Staples of South Brewer; a brother, Arthur H. Staples of Rockland; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Tyrell of Bangor and Mrs. Fred Lincoln of Hartford, Conn.; four grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews."
