[23834] See http://www.thepeerage.com/p5163.htm. http://www.san.beck.org/AB17-FeudalEurope.html reports "In 979 Lothair had his son Louis crowned at Compiegne and gave him the kingdom of Aquitane, though three years later Lothair had to help his son withdraw from Auvergne. Louis brought back softer southern customs that were mocked by the hardy northerners. When Lothair was trying Adalbero for treason in 985, Duke Hugh Capet broke up the council at Compiegne. After Lothair died in 986, Louis V so distrusted Adalbero and Gerbert that he marched his army to Rheims; but Adalbero chose a trial rather than a battle that convened at Compiegne in May 987. A few days later Louis V died while hunting, though later chroniclers suspected he and his father might have been poisoned by his wife."
[52182] Virginia is daughter of Elwood Vernon Hanscom (1906-1975) & Emily McKay (1910-1977; m. 8 April 1928). "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 14 January 2020": "Lamoine - Virginia 'Ginny' Eaton, 88, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 11, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born at home, in Hulls Cove, on Aug. 30, 1931, the daughter of Elwood and Emily (McKay) Hanscome. After graduating from Bar Harbor High School in 1949, Ginny met the love of her life, Almond 'Buddy' Eaton. This would be the start of nearly 70 years of marriage. Ginny and Buddy made their home in Lamoine, raising four children. She was a loving, caring, giving woman, opening her home to anyone in need. For 30 years, Ginny worked at AT&T as a telephone operator, starting at the Ellsworth office and retiring at the Bangor office. She spent countless hours traveling that 'damn' Bangor Road every day with her best friend, Mima Grindle. Ginny retired at the age of 56, giving her time to spend doing things she loved. She loved spending summers at her camp on Molasses Pond when her boys were young. Summer was her favorite time of year. You would often find her on her riding lawn mower, maintaining her lawns, fields and beautiful flower gardens. She found joy in remodeling the inside and outside of her house over and over again. Ginny loved the beach, basking in the sun and collecting sea glass. Ginnys family was most important to her. She followed all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildrens activities, hosted many picnics and football parties and enjoyed visiting extended family on 'The Island.' She was a caregiver to young and old alike and would drop everything when someone needed her. Ginny loved to travel with her friends. She loved her church, The Church of Our Father in Hulls Cove, and enjoyed many get-togethers with her close friends, The Bible Babes. Ginny is survived by her loving husband, Buddy; daughter, Jane Shea and husband, Stephen; sons, Bruce and wife, Linda, Allie Eaton III, and Kenny Eaton of North Dakota; grandchildren, Jennifer Shea-Giffin and husband, Joel, Missy Shea and her partner, Jason Heckman, Anthony Eaton and his partner, Jocelyn Carter, Jesse Eaton and wife, Lisa, and Kristopher Eaton and his partner, Kayla Boone; great-grandchildren, Emily and Sam Giffin, Madeline and Lydia Hart, and Donavin Eaton; sister, Helen Douglas; sister-in-law, Jeanette Hanscome; many nieces and nephews; special nephew, Eddie Douglas and wife, Peggy; and very special neighbors, David and Vicki Smallidge. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her brother, Bobby Hanscome."

A file in Ancestry.com in 2014 offers: "Colonel Alexnder Lowrey 1723-1805
"Alexander Lowrey was six feet in height, raw bones, and possessing great physical prowess. At an early age he joined his father and brothers trading with Indian tribes. He learned to speak several Indian languages fluently, which made him a great favorite among the tribes. He participated in their sports, hunted and trapped with them, and could outrun any man. He started his own trading company in 1748 and ranges as far west as Kaskakaskia and Ft. Chartres on the Mississippi, and as far north as the Great Lakes with posts at Fort Pitt and Carlisle. In the absence of weights for measuring goods, Lowrey would use his hand that weighed two pounds and his foot which weighed four pounds. He was frequently selected by the colonial government to collect the chiefs of Indian tribes at Detroit and other places to make treaties. One winter on his trading travels he was stricken with inflammatory rheumatism on the banks of the Allegheny River. He was carried by Indians to a log cabin and nursed by an old squaw. An Indian doctor then took him to the river, cut a hole in the ice, and plunged Alexander into the icy water. He said the shock was so great to his system he was cured instantly and never afflicted again.
"By 1755, Alexander had accumulated a fortune and began to buy large tracts of land. He purchased most of the land held by his father and other family members. He lost his brother, Daniel, at the massacre of Bloody Run. He escaped capture by hiding in the wooded mountains for several days and was finally discovered on the York County side of the river near Vinegar's Ferry. He swam the river and made good his escape. He said this was the only time he was molested by Indians.
"During the Revolutionary war he served both his government in the assembly and the military as a colonel, serving several tours as commander of the Lancaster County Militia.
"He married three times. Two seemed to be happy relationships with the last one marital misery. (see his other stories). In his old age he was appointed justice of the peace for Donegal, Mt Joy, and Rapho Townships. He settled disputes when fights insued. His manner of dealing with them suited the times and saved Lancaster Co. unnecessary expense. He would place the combatants on the lawn in front of his house and make them fight it out, with him acting as referee. Sometimes he turned in and whipped both of the parties. He was an amazing man and the stuff of legends."
