[6985] "Alexius was an intelligent and victorious ruler, a true Greek of the cast of Odysseus...a great politician, manipulating international and domestic politics, as well as his subjects and enemies, with masterly skill. In a dim age he was bright, in times of frightful crisis he kept his head. His daughter Anna's biography, "The Alexiad" (Penguin, Harmondsworth, 1969), is a fascinating picture in depth." - "Who's Who in the Middle Ages," John Fines (NY: Barnes & Noble, 1995), p. 14. [20752] He was living in 1880 in Knob Noster, MO. He was living in Denver, CO 1908/9; he was a telegrapher for a brokerage firm in 1909 in Denver. He was cremated and his ashes spread on Pike's Peak in CO.
[46562] Beulah is daughter of Edwin Robert Mack (1888-1984) and Callie Lee Howard (1898-1941, m. 31 December 1916 in Shepherd, San Jacinto Co., TX). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 27 September 2006, p. 17: "Bangor and Mariaville - Beulah Goodwin, 89, wife of the late Charles Goodwin, died Sept. 26, 2006 at a Brewer health care center. She was born Sept. 13, 1917 in Shepherd, Texas, the daughter of Edwin and Callie (Howard) Mack. Beulah was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and Webber General Hospital Nursing Program, Biddeford. She worked at various hospitals in the area and retired from Brewer Rehab. Living Center in 1982 as the director of nursing. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Hamel and her husband, Ronald of Mission, Texas, Donna Holland and her husband, Ronald of Eddington, and Shirley Airey and her husband, William of Brewer; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick Mack of Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Raymond Goodwin and his wife, Eleanor of California; one sister-in-law and best friend, Helen Frost of Hampden; several nieces and nephews. . . . Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth."
[25563] The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File states that Elizabeth is daughter of Benjamin Miles (buried 12 June 1631 and of Ware). Ancestry.com offers: "Miles Name Meaning - English (of Norman origin): via Old French from the Germanic personal name Milo, of unknown etymology. The name was introduced to England by the Normans in the form Miles (oblique case Milon). In English documents of the Middle Ages the name sometimes appears in the Latinized form Milo (genitive Milonis), although the normal Middle English form was Mile, so the final -s must usually represent the possessive ending, i.e. 'son or servant of Mile'.English: patronymic from the medieval personal name Mihel, an Old French contracted form of Michael.English: occupational name for a servant or retainer, from Latin miles 'soldier', sometimes used as a technical term in this sense in medieval documents.Irish (County Mayo): when not the same as 1 or 3, an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Maolmhuire, Myles being used as the English equivalent of the Gaelic personal name Maol Muire (see Mullery)."

[58196] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 11 December 2024: "Hancock - On December 5, 2024, Lillian Lounder passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children in the home she shared with her devoted late husband, Andrew 'Bing' Lounder. Lillian, born August 26, 1936, grew up in Milbridge before moving to Hancock Point, where she and Bing would marry, grow their family and become a staple of the small community. Bing and Lillian shared 63 loving years of marriage together before Bing's passing in 2021. As their three children grew, Lillian began working for Hancock Grammar School. The dedication to her career began in 1969, and she continued to be an essential part of the school community for over 50 years. In 2019 she was honored by the school for her many years of service and when giving her thanks to the assembly gathered, she made sure to express to the students and staff that they all had become her second family. In her spare time, Lillian was an active member of the order of the Eastern Star, Irene Chapter #97, currently holding the position of Worthy Matron. Eastern Star for her was a place of community and fellowship; the countless connections Lillian made throughout the years built an even bigger family around her. Belonging to the organization for over 60 years was a very proud accomplishment! Over the years, the home on Hancock Point would become a meeting spot to celebrate holidays and important milestones. Lillian loved bringing the family together and made sure no one left without their fill of delicious home cooked meals and dessert, of course! Thanksgiving and Christmas would always draw a crowd, and Lillian was happiest when surrounded by her family. One could often find her knitting mittens and crafting throughout the summer - preparing for the upcoming Christmas season, her most favorite time of year. During their time together, Bing and Lillian spent over 40 summers at Branch Lake Campground with their immediate and extended family. The friendships foraged throughout the years would prove to be long-lasting and unforgettable. Lillian took great pleasure in supporting her family and loved ones. Her artistic nature and thoughtful advice will always be treasured by all who were lucky enough to know her. Her quick wit, thoughtfulness and positive attitude will forever be missed. Lillian is survived by her three children, Andrew Jr. Lounder, Diane Simmons and Sally Stanley; as well as seven grandchildren and seven more great-grandchildren."
