Her first betrothal was arranged by Comte Henri in order to guarantee a suitably strong protector for his daughter in light of his dispute with Baudouin V Comte de Hainaut regarding the eventual succession to his counties but the arrangement was discontinued after the 1190 imperial decision in favour of Comte Baudouin. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines in 1193 records the marriage of 'Theobaldus comes Barrensis' and 'filiam Henrici comitis ceci…Ermensendem'. Her husband bought the counties of Luxembourg, Durbuy and Laroche, with the approval of Philipp King of Germany, and besieged Philippe Marquis de Namur in his castle at Namur, which forced the negotiation of the 1199 treaty of Dinant. Under the treaty, signed 26 Jul 1199, Baudouin IX Count of Flanders and Hainaut inherited Namur, while Ermesinde retained Luxembourg, Durbuy, Laroche and that part of Namur which lay on the right bank of the river Meuse. She married secondly ([Feb/May] 1214) as his second wife, Waleran de Limbourg, who succeeded in 1221 as Duke of Limburg. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines names 'seniori Walerano filio Henrici' as second husband of 'Ermensende filia Henrici ceci comitis Namucensis'. "It has been said that he had four children by each wife and that his second wife was Elizabeth Holder. One Christopher Holder of Olveston, co. Gloucester, England, came to Boston in 1656, but since he espoused the views of the Quakers, he was banished in 1659 and fled to Newport, R.I. He married, 12 Aug 1660, Mary Scott. Among his nine children born at Newport was Elizabeth Holder, born 4 Jan 1664/5, who, when William Chase died, would have been barely twenty years of age. As it has been claimed that the four youngest children of William Chase were born of his second wife, and as the eldest of these four children sold land in Harwich in 1695 and, therefore, must have been born as early as 1674, when Elizabeth Holder was only about ten years old, it is impossible for her to have been the second wife of William Chase. No other Holder family has been found in New England before 1700.
Rev. John Eliot, in his records of the Roxbury church, stated that William Chase came with his parents in 1630 and was "a child of ill qualities & a sore affliction to his parents." As "William Chase Junr" he was listed in August 1643 among the Yarmouth men between sixteen and sixty years of age who were able to bear arms. [Plymouth Colony Records PCR *:194]. He was probably the William Chase who was in the military service from Yarmouth as a "drummer" from 24 Aug to 2 Sep 1645, and received an extra fee of 5s for his services. [PCR 2:91]. The following entry was found in the records of a General Court held at Plymouth on 6 Mar 1654/5:
"William Chase Junr. for goeing into the house of Richard Berry, and taking away by violence a p'cell of flax and a smale p'cell of hose yarn, was sentenced to sit in the stockes an houre on a training day att Yarmouth." [PCR 3:74].
He lived near Herring River, on the east side of Bass River, in Old Yarmouth, in the part which is now either Dennis or Harwich.
On 2 June 1685 it was ordered by a General Court held at Plymouth "that Capt. John Thacher and Mr. Barnabas Lothropp [are] to setle the estate of William Chase, of Yarmouth, deceased." [PCR 6:170]."

Ida is daughter of Leon S. Phillippi (1856-1941) and Amanda Brougher (1856-1928). Linda Doty (Kinquest@pyramid.net) wrote via Internet 25 April 1998:
Leonidas Samuel Phillippi apparently went to KS/NE with his aunt and her family - the Bittners. He was close to one of their children, called Netta. He may have gone because he loved Amanda Brougher and her family went to Hiawatha, Brown Co., KS. Another single guy, Peter Weimer, went along, and married Amanda's younger sister, Missouri.
Anyway, Amanda Brougher was born 9 Oct 1856 in Brothersvalley, Somerset Co. PA and died in Wenatchee, WA 21 April 1928. Their children were:
>Ida Belle b. 14 July 1878 Morrill, Brown Co. KS m. Hiram Mishler. Only one of the family to remain in KS. (I used to correspond with Helen Van Horn, so I have a lot of information on Ida's family)
>Arthur Bruce b. 1 July 1880 KS m. Blanche Levers in Sabetha, KS. Arthur died about 1955 in Wenatchee, WA - the first funeral I ever attended. Blanche joined the Brethren Church and was baptized in the Columbia River in December (!!) and got pneumonia and died, leaving Arthur with two young children: Ida and Howard. Little Ida looked like Blanche and Arthur couldn't look at her and ignored her. His second wife, Ethel, followed suit. Ida eloped and Arthur brought her home and annulled the marriage. Her second attempt (I don't know if it was the same guy) succeeded. Fern Cox was her husband, and I remember going to Bonners Ferry Idaho to pick huckleberries with Ida and my grandma and mother. Arthur's grandson, Greg, lives in Wenatchee and runs the Phillippi Fruit Co. He's a very nice man.
