He attended South Levant Church and loved playing on their dartball team, enjoying a winning streak during his time with them. One of his favorite hobbies was golfing, which he started late in life and was forced to stop due to health. Vern is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sherrill M. (Nowell) Libby of Levant; two sons and their spouses, Steven and Rhonda Libby, and Brian and Gayle Libby; one daughter, Kimberly Dunton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Travis Dandro, Justin Libby and Max Ward, Ashlee and Ryan Lynch, Angie and Eion Pelletier, Bradley Libby and fiancee, Denise Kimball, and Rachel and Durwin Goode; six great-grandchildren, Isaac Wyeth, Miles Dandro, Feleke Lynch, Collin Pelletier, Shirley and Joey Goode; a brother, Carrol and his wife, Marie, of Burkburnett, Texas; a sister, Avis Karitis of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a special friend and brother-in-law, Leland Nowell; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Libby of Bangor and Fran Libby of Texas; and a great neighbor and friend, Rodney McLaughlin."
