[44675] "Jennings Journal [Jennings, Kansas], 26 September 1974," p. 3: "Everett Calvin Motz of Selden, Kansas passed away Friday, Sept 13th. He was born January 6, 1902 three miles northwest of Selden of pioneer parents, Charles W. and Martha Bain Motz. He grew up at the family homestead and attended the Shaul Country School. He was united in marriage to Grace De lores Huffman, Nov. 15 1923. They spent the first part of their married life in Selden leaving in 1935. After leaving Selden he spent the remainder of his working years with contractors doing U. S. Bureau of Reclamation work. He helped organize the mining union at the Jones Pass Tunnel in Colorado. Through the years he worked in a supervisory capacity on a number of Reclamation projects in the U. S. and Alaska. During the World War II , he went to Hawaii for the Federal Government and was also later employed on another Federal project in Texas. He worked his last years for Magma Copper Mining Co. in Oracle, Arizona."
