[22553] Louise Staley offered on RootsWeb in 2002: "Charles Fitch-Northern in his "A Revision of the Grenville Pedigree" D&C Notes & Queries, Vol. XXXIV - Autumn 1979, pp.154-161, has this to say about Joice Beaumont - 'Sir Theobald is stated in the 1620 Visitation pedigree to have married Jois, daughter of Thomas Beaumont. A Beaumont marriage is probable. Otherwise it is difficult to account for the entry in Sir George Carew's Scroll of Arms, dated 1588 listing the arms of Beaumont of Sherwill, Devon: "barry of six vairry arg. & bleu, 3 bars g." which, he states: "this coate standeth in Bideford Church." Here, all the early armorial belong to the Grenville lords of the manor. But no Thomas Beaumont of this family appears to have been born before ca. 1367. Sir Theobald was a witness in 1372 to a deed by Dame Jane Turberville, who was the wife of Richard Beaumont of Sherwill, to her son John Beaumont. As against these clues, the statement by Roger Granville that Theobald married a daughter of Thomas Beaumont, Earl of Mellent (in France) appears pretentious! " The Beaumont of Sherwill line is poorly understood. It is clear however that Joice was not related to the French earls of Mellent as claimed by some Grenville authors. I am not aware of evidence for her father being James Beaumont of Warwickshire however I assume this James is part of the earls of Warwick line and I believe this to be highly unlikely given the relative unimportance of the Grenvilles outside Cornwall."

Edgecomb, 84, husband of the late Wanda (Morrell) Edgecomb, passed away Wednesday morning, April 10, 2024, in Scarborough, following a period of declining health. He was born December 1, 1939, in Limestone, the son of Almond J. "AJ" and Dorothy (Ouellette) Edgecomb. Roger was a member of the Limestone High School, Class of 1957 and was married to Wanda Morrell on October 28, 1961. Roger had been self-employed as a potato farmer in Limestone and later Caribou for much of his life. He was past president of the Maine Farmers Association, a member of Agway, a past board member of the Maine Potato Growers, and while in school, the Limestone Future Farmers of America. Roger greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, stock car racing, owning and flying his private airplane, seafood, and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his wife, Wanda; two brothers, Carl and David Edgecomb; and one sister, Barbara Edgecomb. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Ronalyn Edgecomb of Caribou, Dalton and Yvette Edgecomb of Estero, FL, and Tod and Shari Edgecomb of Scarborough; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Timothy Leahy of Warner Robins, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Margie Edgecomb of Caribou, and Timothy and Katrina Edgecomb of Ringgold, GA; four sisters, Aline Drost of Woodland, Judy Dionne of Las Vegas, NV, Gail Kinney and her husband, Dale, of Abington, VA, and Julie Armillotti and her husband, David, of Winthrop; sixteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment will follow at St. Albans Anglican Cemetery, Medford, New Brunswick."
