[39955] Louisa is daughter of Nellie L. Grill, born in Sweden and William Henry Davis, born in Maine (1870-1952, buried in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, ME). A marriage record of a child indicates that Nellie was b. in New Sweden, ME and that William is a painter, both r. Brewer, ME. A descendant wote in 2016: "Nellie's maiden name was Grill pronounced Greeley. She was married to William Henry Davis and lived in Brewer and Bangor soon after arrival in New Sweden. Her father was Nilson Grill who was in Sweden. She was born in 1858 in Sweden, came to New Sweden in 1872, with a possible relatives Nilson and Margarita Grill and their young daughter. I have the record of their voyage which incorrectly stated that the young child was a boy. Nellie was listed as being 12 years old. My grandmother said that she was 14. When I was at Augustana College and they did some research for me, the researcher suggested that she was probably listed as a daughter, age 12 because it made the tickets less expensive. My father and my grandmother always said she was 14 when she left Sweden with a family because she was running away from her stepmother. Checking out the dates, it seems as if the couple was too young to be her parents but could have been an older brother and his wife. She was possibly brought to be the nanny for the baby. I think she left New Sweden, and went to Bangor where she met and married my great grandfather, William "Henry" Davis. William "Henry" Davis died while traveling on a boat to Boston. My grandmother was 10 years old. Nellie then married Frank Walker and went live in East Bradford where they lived on the Walker family farm. She died at 40. My interest in Nellie is the reason I got interested in genealogy. It is difficult due to the naming procedure of the Swedes. There is a suggestion that her real name might be Pernilla, Eleanor, etc."

Orland, Maine - Phyllis Marie Gross, 92, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at a Bangor Nursing Home. Phyllis was born on April 22, 1933, in Dedham, the daughter of Maurice and Mildred (Gray) Miller. Phyllis graduated from Brewer High School. She was employed as a telephone operator, worked at the Bucksport Town Office before taking a job at the papermill where she was a secretary and then employment supervisor until her retirement. Phyllis met her future husband, Phil, at a dance when she was 14. They were married in 1953. During earlier years when the girls where young the family enjoyed their camp on Beech Hill Pond. Later after retirement, Phil and Phyllis spent time camping and snowmobiling. They also traveled across country and made many trips to Florida. She was a member of the Bucksport United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Bishop and husband, Tim, and Audrey Mullins and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Rebecca Harriman, Shawn Fish, and Stephanie Allen; great-grandchildren, Mason, Lindsay, Chloe, Amaisie, Weston, Leona, Eli, and Brooklyn; brother, Paul Miller and wife, Pat. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Phil Gross; sister, Maureen; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Allayn. The family wishes to thank the staff at Westgate for their care and compassion they provided their mother."
