[12166] Sir Richard was first Lord Basset of Weldon, Great Weldon, Northamptonshire. He was a minor in 1291 and was taken prisoner at Bannockburn. The web site http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~pmcbride/rfc/gw6.htm gives his ancestors (not verified). Cf. See G.E. Cokayne; with Vicary Gibbs, H.A. Doubleday, Geoffrey H. White, Duncan Warrand and Lord Howard de Walden, editors, "The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct or Dormant, new ed.", 13 volumes in 14 (1910-1959; reprint in 6 volumes, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 2000), volume II, page 10, which gives the spouse of Joan de Huntingfield as Sir Ralph Basset, 1st Lord Basset, according to http://www.thepeerage.com/p11704.htm. Ancestry.com offers about this surname: "English: from Old French basset, a diminutive of basse 'low', 'short', either a nickname for a short person or a status name for someone of humble origins."

[6301] Louise resided in Sargentville, Hancock Co., Maine. She married (2) 6 June 1946 at Rockland, Maine to Alan LeRoy Webb of Stonington, Maine (no child). "Bangor Daily News, 21 February 2005": "Sargentville - Louise J. (Billings) Webb, 85, died Feb. 18, 2005, at a Blue Hill healthcare facility. She was born April 30, 1919, at Attleboro, Mass., the daughter of Albert F. and Mable E. (Trask) Billings. Louise graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1938, walking two and a half miles each day. She was always cheerful, was an exceptionally kind and thoughtful person, and will be remembered as one who was always available to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Louise's ancestors were some of the first settlers in the Sargentville area and she considered it a special privilege to live in the family home which was built in 1820. She was a member of Harborview Chapter, OES for more than 60 years and held the office of associate matron for more than 20 of those years. Louise worked for area summer residents for many years and could share many memories of caring for their children and their homes. She particularly enjoyed working for her special friends, Susanah and Stanton Waterman for more than 40 years. She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Wardwell and her husband, Horace, of Sargentville; one grandson, Blaine Wardwell; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Tyson Wardwell; sister, Dorothy Maloney and her husband, Irving; niece, Donna Murgita and her husband, Bruce; and nephew, Albert Maloney and his wife, Nancy. Louise was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Hannah in 1992; and her husband, Allen (Lee) Webb in 2001."
