[4994] Alexander was Baronet of Westfield and Mochrum and an only son. Burke's "Dormant...Peerages" (London, 1883), reports "The families of Dunbar now existing are derived from Sir Alex Dunbar, of Westfield, Sheriff of Moray, which estate he got from his sister, the heir to her father James Dunbar, 5th Earl of Moray, grandson of John I, Earl thereof. The two eldest of Sir Alexander's six sons m. Anne-Eupheme and Margaret, the two eldest daus. and co-heirs of Patrick Dunbar, of Mochrum, and founded the long lines of Westfield and Mochrum; many other Dunbars trace to the other sons of the founder, Sir Alexander of Westfield."

[1120] Robert m. Katherine _____; Katherine was widow of Thomas Lees at her marriage to Robert Hinckley. Robert's will is dated 5 April 1605; he was buried 27 March 1606. He is "of Tenterden, co. Kent." According to Hugh A. Johnson's "Hinckley Genealogy, p. 20, Robert m. (1) Elizabeth ______ who died 02-Nov-1574, and they had Thomas (1562), Clement (1570) and Isaac (1571) at Harrietsham, co. Kent; all three sons lived to maturity. With Katherine, Robert had eight known children, listed in "Hinckley Heritage...," E. Charles Hinckley, pp. 7-8. [Note: "Hinckley Heritage..." is not reliable. The Rev'd Fr. R. J. Goode wrote 13 Dec 1996: "Our Hinckleys appear to have come from Lenham where the church is St. Mary's . . . At some point the family moved next door to Harrietsham. That is where Elder Samuel was from as was his father, Robert. Robert was not connected with Tenterden as far as I know. Robert's father was pretty definitely the John whose death is listed in Harrietsham (1577) for he is listed as 'pater familias' in the Harriestsham register."]
