[58884] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 25 February 2025: "Gouldsboro - Georgia "Minnie" Young, wife of the late Harold F. Young Jr., passed away February 20, 2025, at her daughter's home in Milbridge. Georgia was born June 15, 1929, at Lambert Lake, Maine, the oldest of seventeen children born to the late Donald and Mattie (Beach) MacLean of Milbridge. Learning to be a caretaker at a young age, she helped raise her younger siblings. Later in her retirement, her granddaughter, Hope, nearly lived with her the first three years of her life. Then came Tawney, her great-granddaughter, whom she helped raise until she went off to school. She always took great enjoyment and pride in caring for family. Georgia worked for her parents, shucking clams for about fifteen years, until she married and went to work at Stinson's Canning Company, where she worked for the next thirty years, until she retired. Surviving Georgia are her daughters, Cherry Dow of Gouldsboro, and Valerie Beal and husband, Dale, of Milbridge; son, Stanley Smith and wife, Wendy, of Connecticut; grandchildren, Hope, Charlie, Brienne, Brandon, Melissa, Melinda, Michelle, and Stanley Jr.; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Virgil; and two sisters, Sandy and Macky. Georgia was predeceased by seven brothers, Johnny, Bobby, Kenny, Bucky (Emery), Boyde, Vincent and Carroll; six sisters, Babe (Florence), Madonna, Linda, Rosalee, Sherry, and Faye; and one son-in-law, Stanley Dow. The family would like to extend grateful appreciation to Community Health and Counseling Hospice, Gouldsboro Clinic, and especially, Lauren Rolfe for the exceptional care Georgia received. Additionally, the care given by her daughter, Valerie, is noteworthy."
