[61084] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 7 November 2020: "Bangor, Maine - On October 29 ,2020, Gary Lee Giddings left this world unexpectedly and the world lost a peaceful and gentle soul. Gary was born on February 12, 1964, to Donald Lee Giddings and Gayle (Moulton) Zelko. He graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1982, and attended the University Of Maine In Orono majoring in Business. While attending UMO Gary decided to take an adventure and move to California. In California he took an apprenticeship at a local boat building company as an interior cabinet maker and so began his love for working with wood as a finish carpenter. Although Gary was very knowledgeable at all aspects of carpentry his true passion and talent was designing and building furniture and his plan was when he retired to do just that. When Gary decided to move back to Maine instead of booking an airline flight he bought himself a cross country bicycle and he and a friend peddled across the USA. It took him only 45 days and he recorded his journey along the way. Gary so loved the water, whether swimming, kayaking or going for a boat ride with his fur nephew, Wynnston. He said being on the water gave him so much peace. He enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Pushaw Lake and had been spending a lot of time there recently. He also loved the outdoors, annual family camping trips with family, hunting, fishing and gardening something he hadn't been able to do lately. The angels that were waiting at heavens gate for his arrival are: his father, mother; and stepfather, Louis Zelko; Sherman, his golden retriever and special friend. He leaves behind broken hearts being mended by all the great memories they have. Wife Kathy (Shedd) Giddings; sister, Dawn Call and husband, Steve; brother, Ryne Giddings and wife, Theresa; sister-in-law, Tammy (Green) Millette and husband, Henry; brother-in-law, David Shedd and wife, Brenda; niece and nephews, Megan (Millette) Pelletier and husband, Hank, Ryan Millette and girlfriend, Samantha, Christopher Shedd and wife, Amy, Micheal Shedd and wife, Taylor, and Jonathan Shedd and girlfriend, Lindsey. Uncle Gary loved all of you so very much and loved hearing from you. Also his special furry pals, Sir Wynnston, Griffin and Nell which brought him great comfort. Gary was known for his way with words, infectious smile and his unforgettable laugh."
