[27748] Her parents are presented as found on Ray Gurganus' web site, www.gurganus.org, in 2007. Cf. "The Visitation of Yorkshire in the Years 1563 and 1564," (London: Harleian Society, 1881), p. 40. A file in http://trees.ancestry.com in 2010 offers: "Adam de Brus, whose descendants continued to hold lands in Englnd as Lords of Skelton. When Peter de Brus III, last Bruce Lord of Skelton, died in 1272, his sisters were coheiresses. One of them, Laderia, carried Carleton to her marriage with John de Bellew, whose daughter, Sybil married Sir Miles de Stapleton (k. 1314, at the Battle of Bannockburn), whose family were subsequently designated 'of Carleton'. This appears to confirm the de Brus and de Pagnall of Carleton connection. Sir Miles Stapleton's son and heir, Sir. Gilbert (d. 1321) married Agnes, daughter of Bryan FitzAlan, Lord FitzAlan, and a granddaughter of Devorguilla of Galloway (d. 1290) wife of John de Balliol, Lord of Barnard Castle, whose son was King John of Scotland."

He attended technical school in Portland, University of Hawaii, was in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War, and graduated from University of Maine Machias. [72] Joseph's will, entered for probate 23 Feb 1689, was made 29 Dec 1688; he is "of Calvert County, Maryland"; in addition to the children listed here, he names two sons-in-law, Joseph Brown and James Clifford; he also names his wife, Mary. Probate records, Liber 11B, folio 13 in the Maryland Hall of Records shows an estate inventory for Richard Isack, "late of Baltimore," with a value of 28 pounds and 2 shillings; I presume that he is kinsman of Joseph; Joseph spells his own surname "Isacke" in his will. Joseph and his brother, Captain Edward Isaac, were said to have been English army officers sent to the colonies with Scottish prisoners of war. ("Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Maryland, Pedigrees of Members, 1905-1939," p. 11 lists him as a qualifying ancestor.) They remained in Maryland. Captain Edward Isaac m. Jane Sutton and Joseph m. Margaret who was a widow and had sons by the names of Brown and Clifford. Richard Isaac is in Baltimore Co. by 1692 as a taxable in Northside of Gunpowder Hundred, and died by 24 May 1700 (estate inventory by William Peckett and Henry Wriothesley - Balt. Co. Tax list 138;206-11b:14). "British Roots of Maryland Families," Robert W. Barnes (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing, 1999), p. 262. Also see http://members.tripod.com/~labach/simmonsa.htm
