In the 1st year of King Richard II, he being constituted admiral of the king's fleet in the westwards, and soon after that to the southwards, was retained by indenture to serve the king at sea for one quarter of a year, in the company of John, Duke of Lancaster, King of Castile. He was afterwards engaged for some years in Scotland; and was in the commission (9th year of Edward II), for the trial of Michael de la Pole, and some others of the king's favorites, whom the Commons had then impeached. He was appointed the next year admiral of the whole fleet, and putting to sea encountered and vanquished the united fleets of France and Spain, taking no less than 100 ships, great and small, all laden with wines, comprising 19,000 tons. This gallant exploit he followed up by entering the port of Brest, and reducing one of the castles and burning the other. He now returned to England in great triumph, but had the encounter the jealousy and hatred of the king's favorites, particularly the Duke of Ireland, whose influence over the king he strenuously resisted. His lordship afterwards entered into the confederation of the Earls of Warwick and Derby, which assembled in arms at Haringhay Park (now Hornsey), in Middlesex, and compelled the king to acquiesce in their views. He was then, by the general consent of the parliament (11th year of Richard II), made Governor of the castle and town of Brest, and shortly after captain-general of the king's fleet at sea, with commission to treat of peace with John de Montfort, then Duke of Brittany; whereupon hoisting his flag, soon after met with the enemy, of whose ships he sunk and took fourscore; entered the Isle of Rhe, which he burnt and spoiled, and several other ports which he likewise plundered, putting to flight all the French and Britons that made any resistance. From this memorable period in the life of Lord Arundel, little is known of him, until the 15th year of Richard, when the king regaining his power, summoned a parliament at Westminster, and dismissed several of the great officers of state, amongst whom his lordship was removed from his command as admiral; and in two years afterwards, the parliament then sitting, he was accused of treason by the Duke of Lancaster, but escaped for the moment, and sought to retire from public life. The king entertaining, however, the strongest feeling of personal enmity to all those who had previously opposed his minions, contrived to get the Earl of Arundel into his hands by stratagem, and having sent him prisoner to the Isle of Wight, brought him to immediate trial, when he was condemned to be hanged, drawn, and quartered as a traitor. The sentence was however somewhat mitigated, and the gallant nobleman was simply beheaded at Cheapside, in the city of London, in the 21st year of King Richard II, the king himself being a spectator, and Thomas de Mowbray, Earl Marshal (who had married his daughter), the executioner, who, bound up his eyes, and according to some, the person who actually struck off his head. It is stated that when the earl saw his son-in-law, Mowbray, and the Earl of Kent, his nephew, guarding him to the place of execution, he told them, it had been much more fit that they should have absented themselves; "For the time will come." he said, "when as many shall wonder at your misfortune as they now do at mine." She was born Dec. 2, 1911 in West Sedgwick, the daughter of John and Nellie Grindle. Helen was a member of the Brooksville Goodwill Club and the Rainbow Rosier Grange. She also was an avid seamstress and fisherman. Helen was loved by all and the best mother grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law anyone could have. Her husband, Carl L. Closson, predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by her six children, Barbara Carlow and her husband, Roger of Lincoln, Patricia Black and her husband, Ernest of Brooksville, John Closson and his wife, Linda of Brooksville, Jane Hale and her husband, Donald of Sargentville, Tinny O'Rourke of Cumberland, Md., Richard Closson and his wife, Sherrianne of Brooksville; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews."

[36988] This person is from the Ritter Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2014 which states Heinrich arrived at Philadelphia, PA in 1732. A note in ancestry.com in 2014 offers: Biography for Heinrich (Henry) Ritter (from "History of Lehigh County Pennsylvania and a Genealogical and Biographical Record of Families" by Charles Rhoads Roberts, Rev. John Baer Stout, Rev. Thomas H. Krick and William J. Dietrich) - "Henry Ritter secured by a warrant dated March 16, 1737 a tract of 170 acres, 149 perches, at that time in Bucks county, but when Northampton county was erected in 1752, 74 acres fell in the new county and the balance, 96 acres, remained in Bucks county. This land is situated on the line of Lower Milford township, west of the Great Swamp Reformed church. On this tract of land Henry Ritter built in 1739, a log house, with a stone chimney, which stood until a few years ago. The cellar and part of the chimney can still be seen. The log over the fireplace was removed by the present owner, Squire 0. C. Keiper, and the section of it containing the date 1739 was presented by him to the Lehigh County Historical Society. Henry Ritter was naturalized Sept 11, 1740. He and his wife attended the Lutheran church in the township until 1754. He did not remain long upon his land, which was secured by a vacating warrant, dated Jan. 13, 1749. by Lawrence Erbach, who deeded it to his only son, Jacob Erbach, on May 7, 1785. Henry Ritter then located in Salisbury township, where, in 1764., he owned 280 acres of land. He was an elder of the Lutheran congregation at Salisbury church and a prominent resident of the township. He died in January, 1797. He and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, had a number of children, among whom were: Caspar; Martin; Henry William, born Feb. 20, 1751. John Theobald, born June 11, 1753; and Barbara Anna, born in 1758."

[51861] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 11 August 2017": "Milbridge - Walter Eugene Strout, 65, died Aug. 4, 2017, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1951, in Machias, the third child of Everett Barnard Strout, and Annie B. (Kelley) Strout. He was educated in Milbridge schools, and was a graduate of Narraguagus High School, and Eastern Maine Vocational Technical School. Excepting several years in the construction industry, Walter spent his working life as a commercial fisherman and boat builder. He also served for many years in the National Guard. He was a member and Past Master of Pleiades Lodge No. 173, and a member of ANAH Shrine, and charter member of its mini car unit. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Strout of Fort Lupton, Colo., Brian Strout and his wife, Sunshine, of Milbridge and Daniel Strout and his fiancée Josie Cusano of Southington, Conn.; grandchildren Colby and Josie Strout of Denver, Colo., and Sullivan Strout of Milbridge; a sister, Rebecca Young. and her husband, Dennis, of Boothbay. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Everett Eugene Strout."
