[41402] This person is from an unverified file in Ancestry.com in 2016. Ancestry.com offers: "James Name Meaning - English: from a personal name that has the same origin as Jacob. However, among English speakers, it is now felt to be a separate name in its own right. This is largely because in the Authorized Version of the Bible (1611) the form James is used in the New Testament as the name of two of Christ's apostles (James the brother of John and James the brother of Andrew), whereas in the Old Testament the brother of Esau is called Jacob. The form James comes from Latin Jacobus via Late Latin Jac(o)mus, which also gave rise to Jaime, the regular form of the name in Spanish (as opposed to the learned Jacobo). See also Jack and Jackman. This is a common surname throughout the British Isles, particularly in South Wales."
[45196] "The Times-Tribune [Scranton, PA], 9 December 1993," p. 11: "Steve 'Ace' Pregrim, 303 Church St., Old Forge, died Wednesday evening in Moses Taylor Hospital. His widow is the former Ann Rayannic. They had been married for 44 years. A lifelong resident of Old Forge, son of the late Nazar and Julia Pregmon Pregrim, he attended Old Forge schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 970th Counter Intelligence Corps. Detachment APO 757 for appoxi-mately eight and a half months, where he performed duties of a special agent making investigations of top secret operations. He also performed the duties of an interpreter and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Occupation Medal of Germany. In 1986, he retired from Superior Fireproof Door and Sash, Scranton, where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Old Forge, served as past president of the church, and was a member of its Men's Club, the Russian Brotherhood Organization, and a life member of the William C. Mafia Post Chapter 1 DAV. Also surviving are a son, Stephen, with whom he resided; a daughter, Mrs Debra Konnick, Falls; a brother, William Pregmon, Scranton; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Pregmon, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Lugin."
