[46666] "The Perry County Democrat (Bloomfield, PA), 15 Sep 1926", p. 3: "Andrew Minick, a much-respected resident of Newport, died very suddenly of heart failure on Saturday morning, while on the way from the railroad station in Newport to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary N. Troup. He had been to Harrisburg, visiting his daughter, Mrs. John Chrismer, and got off the train and started to walk to the home of Mrs. Troup. On the way Nelson Gable overtook him and invited him to ride on his wagon which he accepted. He had ridden only a short distance when he fell dead in Mr. Gable's arms. Dr. Carl was summoned and pronounced death due to heart failure. Mr. Minick was born at Loysville, Oct. 20, 1842, and was aged at death 83 years, 11 months and 9 days. He was a son of Daniel and Mary Minick and was the last of nine children. He was married to Sarah Jane Baltozer, who preceded him in death five years ago. Their surviving children are Austin, of Mifflintown; Kosier, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Maude, Mrs. D. L. Bornman, Duncannon; Mary, wife of the late D. P. Troup, of Newport, and Katie, Mrs. J. K. Chrismer, Harrisburg."
[3043] Casper arrived with his parents in 1731 aged 16 years, and they settled at Oley, Berks County, PA. He was grantee of a tract of land near New Berlin on Penn's Creek, Union Co.,PA, 1769. George is presumed to be one of his three sons. {-see William H. Egle, "Notes and Queries..." (Harrisburg Pub. Co., Harrisburg, PA, 1900 [1899 Ed.], p.166)} Michael, George and John Motz are listed consecutively in the "Supply and State Tax Lists of the County of Northumberland for the Years 1778 to 1788" under Penn's Twp. in PA Archives, Series 3, Vol. 19, p. 571. Ancestry.com suggests the meaning of the surname: "(also Mötz) nickname for a grubby, unkempt individual, or an obstinate one, from Swabian dialect motz dirt.variant of Mautz.short form of the personal name Matthäus (see Matthew)."

[26243] Find A Grave memorial 38365858 offers: "George Spear is believed to have been born in Sheffield, District of South Yorkshire (County) or Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, Hampshire County. These two geographical ares are widely separated and some of the research facts as reported by Vern Raymond Spear in the book 'The descendants of George Spear who settled at Braintree Massachusetts 1642-1988' are from a historian in Hampshire county as such it can be safely assumed George Spear did live in Yarmouth prior to emigrating to CT. . . . Legand says while at Sheepscot, New Dartmouth, Province of Main he was killed during an indian raid. It is known that he was in Sheepscot at the time of the Second Indian Uprising. The area was abandoned by the settlers for 30 years. His remains are probably, if buried, in a common unmarked grave in the area." [34641] "The Perry County Democrat, 23 November 1927," p. 3: "Thomas W. Tressler, Perry county's veteran schoolteacher, died at his home at Wila on Monday, following a long illness from internal cancer; however, he was confined to bed only about a month preceding his death. He was aged 79 years, 2 months and 1 day. Mr. Tressler was a son of Mr. and Mrs., Samuel Tressler, deceased. He was the last of his family. His wife's name was Miss Louisa Toomey. She died ten years ago. Their surviving children are Mary (Mrs. W. G. Heighes), Paxtang; C. E. Tressler, Juniata township; Bernard Tressler, Illinois; Grace (Mrs. Frank Britcher), Middle Ridge; Delbert, Juniata township; Horace, New Castle, and Harry, Greensburg. Two daughters and a son are dead, namely, Amy (Mrs. N. B. Gabel, Floy (Mrs. T. J. Owen), and William Clarence Tressler. He was an uncle of John W., Elmer H., and David A. Tressler, of this place. Mr. TressleR taught school for over fifty years, having retired only a few years ago, and was recognized as one of the county's best teachers. He never missed a county teachers' institute and in former years took an active part in the proceedings. He was a member of the Evangelical Church and for many years was the superintendent of the Milford Sunday School, and also represented Perry county as a delegate to National and State Sunday School conventions. In politics Mr. Tressler was a Republican and was a candidate for the nomination for Associate Judge in 1911. He served as Justice of the Peace of Juniata township for years. In every particular Mr. Tressler was a model man and a good citizen. His death will be mourned by many, as he was widely known and highly respected."
