He was born in Surry Aug. 23, 1912, the son of Russell and Ida (Robinson) Carter. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Carter, Surry; one son, James, Surry; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Susan) McDonald, Surry; one brother, Jasper Carter, Surry; four sisters, Mrs. Eldora Candage, Surry, Mrs. Mildred Duffy, Blue Hill, Mrs. Edith Cuningham and Mrs. Helen Gray both of Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Jordan Funeral Home, Ellsworth with the Rev. Raymond Murchie officiating. Burial will be in Rich's Corner Cemetery."

The 'Historia Nivernensium Comitum' names 'Bodonem' as the son of 'Hildegarii nepoti Landrico' and his wife '[ex] stirpis Andegavorum', specifying that 'Bodo de Montibus' was his godfather and that Bodo built 'castellum…Moncellis'. Seigneur de Monceaux-le-Comte. 'Bodo' donated property 'in pago Matisconense in villa Lanco' acquired from 'Rainaldo cognate meo' to Cluny 'pro receptione filii mei' by charter dated Nov 950, subscribed by 'Gisoni, Attoni, Landrici', although it is not certain that this is the same Bodo. Although the identity of 'Rainaldo cognate meo' has not been established, the name suggests a family connection with the Comte de Nevers. Settipani suggests that he was related to the Comtes d'Anjou, through Bodo's mother." Monceaux le Comte is a commune in the Nièvre department in central France.
