[2405] Her parents are NOT proven.
[34247] A file in Ancestry.com states Margaret is daughter of David Forsythe and Ann Thompson. An unverified file in 2016 in http://www.mardigenes.com states Margaret is daughter of George Forsythe and Ann Thompson and reports "She and her future husband apparently had a shipboard romance, 1806. The McDonalds and Forsythes were related, but unknown how; they lived within a quarter mile of the George Forsythe farm. She was a widow with two spinster daughters in 1850 census." Ancestry.com offers: "Forsythe Name Meaning - Scottish: from an Anglicized form of the Gaelic personal name Fearsithe, composed of the elements fear man + sith peace. Some early forms with prepositions, as for example William de Fersith (Edinburgh 1365), seem to point to an alternative origin as a habitational name, but no place name of suitable form is known. The spelling Forsythe is associated chiefly with northern Ireland."
